Idaho Tag

Postby Deafirishman » 03 30, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Purchased my Idaho elk archery tag about 15 minutes ago....when do I start hunting ?? Hopefully this coming season my group and I get an opportunity at the magical and elusive 300" of horn and put him on the ground :-) Time to start training again since the weather is starting to cooperate somewhat in Minnesnowta. Hope everyone has stayed in shape more than I have this past winter although one would think taking care of 3 kids would keep you in shape. As much running around I have been doing with the kids, I probably could run a marathon :)

Anyways, hope everyone's off-season has been a successful one for you. Looking forward to watching the forum heat up as we start preparing for the 2015 season.

Southeastern part of Idaho. It's our 3rd year in a row going. Friday the 13th is a regular on the forum and one of my hunting partners. We have a lot of positive things going for us in this area and beginning to figure out the area and the elk patterns. I believe this will be the year we put some serious horns on the wall :) If money grew on trees, I definitely would be putting in for other tags but unfortunately this thing called work doesn't pay me enough

Yes sir, isn't that the truth! (grin) I think most all of us here are blue collar workers, if money was not an issue our hunts & places we'd choose could be endless! (grin) I'm hunting the west central part of the state. It's a few hours north of you guys. Good luck sir with some great bone this year!

I understand your thinking on hunting and familiarizing yourself with the OTC tag you bought, but for nearly the same cost you could pick a controlled hunt to put in for and fall back on your chosen OTC area. This strategy could allow you more opportunity at a little better unit to hunt now and then. That said, good luck and hopefully we read your posts about your 300" plus bull later this year!

I don't know you  Did you get over the bird flu?
No 300" bull for me, I'm holding out for a 350" or miles of walking and look for the wipiti, only to watch you shoot again, but at least you can hit something. I just got my new Black Gold sight in the mail, but have not had time to put it on. Those .10 pins are small. Should be able to shoot a fly at 60 yards.
