I know all kinds of gear collectors (guns, bows, packs, tents, optics, lightweight backcountry gear, clothes) but never a hunting boot collector, lol. You're gonna need one of those closet organizers pretty soon. Let us know how you like the new boots Paul.

Rory, i also have a fair collection of some of the other items you mentioned too! (grin) Right now I like the thought of checking some of the finer boots out & see if any are really any better than another, so many times there are varying opinions on the subject so I want to check it out personally! Sound reasonable???

I haven't been a fan of the asolos durability. They tend to not last long. And they will leak but they are light and comfortable.

Paul I've found Asolo boots to be comfortable and well made but.... they run a little narrow.
The Fugitive Gortex was my daily shoe for years till I wanted to try something lighter and cooler. I may go back after not finding a boot with good ventilation and comparable support.

I'm looking forward to your thoughts after a good full season. I had a pair of asolos (drifter gv) that worked great in September but not November... They were awesome out of the box and great when it was dry. I swapped them out for some zamberlans (civetta gtx)... Almost the same exact style as your asolos but 1 piece leather without stitching...
I'm guessing your model will perform better than the one I tried. The only other negative I can think of regarding my asolos was the tread, pretty slippery at times...

Asolo Fugitive - lack of full rand led to separation for me.

I have the Lowa Tibet Hi's, they are the 10" high model. Very nice boot!

I did receive the Asolo Bajura 8" tall boot & they seem pretty good so far, I have a 1/2 day on them & already breaking in nicely. They won't replace my other 3 but they have their niche in my arsenal. (grin) These have the full rand wrap.

No sir. As a guy with a narrow foot I look for mediums to narrow fit types! (grin) These new Asolo Bajura boots are fantastic so far! Of course when first worn they had stiff & tight spots but after two days they have already wore in nicely! I presume they'll even get better if that's possible! I really like these 8" high boots. My next one I'm going to break in are the Lowa Tibet Hi's. They are 10" tall. I do love a taller boot for ankle/shin support in rough country with & without loads!

I am in the same boat as you. Wide options are a lot fewer.

I just ordred a pair of Kenetrek Hardscrables. Found them on Ebay. Hopefully they will hold up.

I have the Kenetrek Mountain Extreme Uninsulated and like them a lot. This year I picked up a pair of Lowa Tech Light Hunters from Lathrop and Sons, so far I really like the feel and support. Support is super inportant to me, I've broken one ankle and severley sprained the other numerous times playing sports. So that last thing I need is a boot that is lacking in support.

Nice thing about Asolo is they come in different widths. More so than many other brands.

These are the boots I wore last year. I really liked them a lot! Did you buy them from Linton Outdoor in Meridian?

No I did not. I pick all my boots up online. The Lowa Tibet Hi were from shoebuy! Still breaking in the Asolo Bajura boots at present but have worn the Lowa's & really like them. All good boots take several weeks to break in just right at minimum.

I have had great luck with Danner boots, this seems to be a brand rarely touched on in any forums. I currently am running the Danner Mountain Assault boot. This is an 8inch boot. Very comfortable on my feet. I now own 6 pairs of danners, 3 work boots and 3 hunting boots. They all seem to be extremely durable and well built. Any thoughts or experience with Danners?

I used to run danners, but after getting burned on every pair I bought, I decided to jump up to the Varsity league and get some high quality boots (in my opinion). Danners are a good boot (for light terrain hunting and work), but every pair I bought one started leaking, and I'm not the kind of guy that returns stuff after a year of use. I think a boot (even at a danner price) should hold up for at least 3-4 years of good hard hunting. One of my biggest pet peeves is a leaky boot, and it never seamed to fail after one hunting season one would leak. I would rather get both feet wet rather than have one wet and one dry. I bit the bullet and got a pair of Kenetreks and completely abused them for 5 years before they started to break down and kind of started leaking (Still have them, getting them rebuilt). I think they are 9 years old now and still in decent shape (can't wait to see them after the rebuild). Since then, I've invested in a pair of Hanwags and another pair of kenetreks, and expecting to get another decade of use out both pairs as well. Well worth the $$$ for the years of use compared to the 4 pairs of danners I bought and the use I got out of them.

no durability issues with the pair of osolo's that I have, ive been beating the snot out of them since 2012. with that said they have really never "broke in" they are still very stiff and I always end up with hot spots after extended use. the asolo's seem to run a bit small and narrow. I went with the Solomon boots after the asolos and they are definitely more comfy but I get wet feet now. so I guess im still looking for my "perfect boot". looking forward to hearing your review of this boot.

Really narrow feet 4 me, B width. Anybody favorable feedback on high-end boots in that width? Women's size 11 fit me well w orthotics, but aren't very durable.

i wore those boots to death..11 years!

now i think i hate the Pronghorns. i had to return two pairs. If and When i buy Danners again, i will shop from their USA made line. the Hood Mtn lights are an amazing boot. very comfy, very durable feeling. light years ahead of their foreign made boots. very expensive tho.

last time i was in Portland OR, i hit up a Danner store. amazing inventory. so nice to be able to try on their USA boots in person. i'm wearing Schnees Beartooths right now, and i think Danners are more comfy, and an easier break in process.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, being from WI I probably don't abuse my boots enough to break them down that much. I will consider the Kenetrek boots when I am shopping for my next pair of mountain boots. I estimate that I put 60-70miles on the mountain assaults last elk season. Maybe another 50miles here in WI. I hope to increase my mountain hunting trips in the next few years so the higher end boots may be needed!!!
