WY Resident guide needed

I drew a general elk tag & need a resident who wants to go into Wilderness & kill a couple big bulls. I'll be pretty open with dates as I'm gonna be around up there somewhere. I've got all the equipment we need for the most part including the stock. Somebody has to be an elk hunter that would love to go in but doesn't have a partner or stock. I'm your man. In essence we can help each other out tremendously & possibly build a lifelong friendship enjoying some of the best country & memories our life will entail. Just ftr, no compensation other than me doing everything in my power to legally get myself & whoever partnered with me their bull will be exchanged. If you want to pm me that'll be great. Huh. Interesting. To be honest I don't know any residents that care whether they hunt wilderness or non-wilderness. And most I do know already have a plan A with partners. You might consider bar hopping in Jackson. There are lots of hippies that don't hunt but would love some organic elk meat. Good luck.

Wilderness isn't mandatory in my quest I just figure we can get away from some people & possibly increase our trophy/numbers potential at the same time. I've got a guy interested in the Bighorns now. I've been studying everything over west & don't know much about this area but I soon will.

Have you studied the unit specific regs? Most of the Bighorns is on a Limited Quota license. There are some opportunities in 36 and 37 for a GEN license but you'll need to look at land ownership maps to see how much of it is public or private. You'll be hard pressed to find a resident to partner up with over there. I'd be looking at west side elk hunting.

Yes sir i was looking at 36 & 37 since this guy has contacted me. It looks pretty promising actually. The more I research the area the more I like it. I haven't studied the regs other than enough to know those two are general tag units & rifle last year opened on Oct. 15th in both. Lots of NF & some wilderness in both units.

It should be I feel. I will find my man. I'm confident. If I haven't already.Im not against having more than one as the guy that I am talking to now isn't going to have alot of time. Smbdy will jump at my offer & will be as glad to get it as I am their help. I suspect they'll not be as much of an elk junky as most of us who lurk here daily but who knows. There are plenty of common hunters who would love to have access to areas they'll never access w/o mine or smbdy else's help. Big bulls out there & I'm going to find them.

The toughest part is....I won't know my draw status until june. Would hate to make plans and then pull a tag.

And, I wouldn't want to go into the bighorns for the general. The thoroughfare or surrounding areas would be my vote. I'm going to scout as much country as I can by foot this summer. Thoroughfare is obviously out but a few of the other areas are not.

The Bighorns are just producing some pretty good bulls in areas adjacent to 36 & 37. Gotta be a few bleed out into these two. I'm all in for wherever & come June I'll be up looking around myself. Maybe u won't draw & u'll b ready to go!

I plan to do the same but there's only so many weekends in the summer hahaha. One trip into the unit in the bighorns I want to hunt sometimes, one trip around yellowstone, and a couple more scattered from here to hell. Even hope to get down to Colorado for a long weekend.

I'm getting all out excited map looking & studying all of this! I'm pretty certain I've got some AWESOME territory that is infested with BIG bulls running around located. The only issues are the bears, wolves & about a 35 mile ride in. But I just know it's loaded with them! I need a partner!!

I think you have a great idea! My cousin used to live in Cheyenne and I wanted to take (or use him haha) her husband out to the Wilderness. Hopefully the Air Force will move him back!... For the good of the country of course!!

Yeah, residents not knowing their draw results for awhile yet will cut back on the quality/quantity who volunteer for this.

Trent, I plan to scout the heck out of some areas too again this summer. Going to have to get my laker fishin' in early again this year My biggest issue is I'll hike ten miles into these areas, but the grizzlies suck.
