Pre-Podcast, Thoughts?

Postby ElkNut1 » 02 28, 2015 •  [Post 1]

OK, folks I've put several of these together now that will eventually be on Itunes, for now this one is on Soundcloud for review from you! (grin) Please listen to these couple hunting stories & we will add a few more a bit at a time. The subjects will vary, all are not hunting stories! Thanks!

For best results please listen with either earbuds or headphones plugged in, sounds much cleaner this way!

You enthusiasm in telling stories is contagious - you definitely keep a guy drawn in! I also really like how you actually demonstrated the sounds you made/heard the bulls make. Helps make the scene even more real.

Hey Paul: that was great! I really enjoyed listening to that! I agree that including the calls you used was a nice bonus, adding realism and a calling lesson. I also enjoy the more conversational approach to the story. It's obvious that you aren't reading a script, so the story flows well and is filled with enthusiasm and excitement. Too many of these online hunting personalities (e.g., YouTube and ArcheryTalk tough guys) take themselves too seriously, using words they can't define and reading from a boring script. I had your podcast playing in the house while I was doing chores and feeding our little guy, Henry. (Henry seemed to enjoy the podcast too, although a few bugles startled him!).

The only suggestion I'd make (and I think you are aware) is to improve the sound quality. How are you recording? I have a bit of recording experience from my days as a rock star wanna be, so I'd help if I can. It sounded like maybe you are just using the microphone built into a laptop/computer? The hiss was a little distracting. My iPhone records pretty amazing audio (if you have one?) or you could buy a USB microphone for under 100$ that would take you to the next level. A directional mic might also help kill that reverb/echo too. But, really, I didn't really mind the hiss/reverb all that much.

Looking forward to more!

Hey Paul,

That was AWESOME !!

I'll give you guys a little background on me as of right now. I am sitting in a palative care unit looking after my father who is passing away from bone cancer. I have been under a crazy amount of stress as you all can imagine!!

My buddy Shane let me know the pod was up !! Well I finally got my dad to sleep and I am sitting in a chair beside him relaxing.
Sitting there I was swept away in the elk stories !!

So I wanted to share with all that not only are we learning from these stories but they are very relaxing when we are stressed !!

I can honestly say Paul you made my day !!

Thank you and I can't wait for more. Lol

Paul,

There truly is nothing a person can say when these things happen in life !! It's the circle of life that goes around and around. I sat with dad and I listened to it again with him and we were both silent !! It was like we were on our last elk hunt together !!

All I can say is we both really enjoyed it together ! So thank you for that !!

I know the pod cast was not intended for that scenario but you touched us in a way I had never even thought of and in a way you brought us closer together !!

Excellent time spent together enjoying a hunt !!

ElkNut,

I really enjoyed these stories you were able to tell us. It really got me going and ready for September to be here. Both of these stories will change my methods of hunting bulls and how I approach certain situations and I thank you for that.
Wapiti , prayers to your father in hopes of a recovery. I can't imagine what you're going through. God bless!!

Sorry That is what I would have done as well.
