Bow sights (sorry gun dudes)

What is your preferred bow sight? Fiber optic size? Color?

I'm in the market for a new sight. Not loving my current sight as much as I used to, so I'd love some feedback on what's the best out there. I lean towards a slider so I can shoot >100yds without a pile of pins. How about you?

I like my tommy hogg so far. I went with the three pin option. 30, 40, and 50 plus a slider to any range 50 to 100.

Montana Black Gold Ascent 3-pin .19 pins, dial O death wheel good to 100 yds! Next time I will opt for the micro adjust pins. Great sight though!

That's what I hunted with the last couple years. Great sight. Built like a tank. It's heavy though. And I never understood why their pins aren't brighter.

That's what I had before the tommy hogg. Micro adjust pins are a MUST. However those little wheels rattled a tiny bit now and then. Not as well built as the Tommy Hogg (but still nice), and great pin brightness!

I have an MBG ascent now with a single pin and a 5 pin head that I'll probably be selling soon if I can find a new aight to try

Nothing but Spot Hogg for me. Hunter Hogg It all .10 pins (5) top 2 green, middle red, bottom two green. I've got a MGB as well but it's put up, I prefer Spot Hogg.

Montana Black Gold Ascent 3-pin .19 pins for me and you can customize everything which is pretty sweet.

Spot Hogg everytime im using the 7 deadly pin and like it pretty good but sometimes it gets busy with that many pins but I'm thinking about going to the 3 pin hoggfather!

I was afraid of this. Everybody recommends the same 2 brands that I use! I'm just not as in love with either company's sights like I used to be.

I have a HHA single pin site that I shot for 3 years and love it, best site I have ever used. I am super deadly with it out to 50 yards, 60 on a good day but I'm getting old and shaky. They do not offer a multiple pin head and I was in the market for a 3 pin site for elk hunting. Figured on the ground and things could get crazy in a hurry that I should have a 20,30 and 40 yard fixed pins. Any further than that I should have time for an adjustment. I bought a spot hogg boss hog three pin slider with a .019 green .010 yellow and .010 green pins. Good site well built easy to set up, had to get use to the horizontal pins again after shooting the vertical single pin site for 3 years. I shoot ok with it but not as well as the HHA. The spot hogg is a lot rougher in its slider movement and a lot more noise in the wheel locking and unlocking lever. The HHA IMO is a far superior site, dead quite in all its moving parts and smooth. If HHA would make a multi pin head I would buy one in a heart beat and sell my spot hogg. Just my 2 cents

They used to make a multi pin head. I think you can still find them if you dig around. lancasters had them recently.

I shot a HHA OL-5519 since 2005 and love this sight. As stated above it is built like a tank and the slider is silky smooth. I switched to a 4 pin sight to go elk hunting last year just to have pins set at 20 30 40 50 yards and left it on through deer season. It was easy to shoot targets with but I found out in deer season with all the pins cluttering my sight picture I had trouble concentrating on the correct pin in the heat of the moment so I will be switching back to my HHA for this years elk hunt.

Montana Black Gold 1 pin slider not sure of the model. I set it at 30 and aim low for 20 yards and high at 40 yards. Anything beyond that I feel I have time to adjust.

I love being able to practice at 75+ yards. Blows my whitetail hunting buddies away when I can hit a 2x2 target at 100 yards.

Trophy Ridge Micro Hitman 5 on all of our bows. .019 Pins

Not that it matters, but we set them up so that the top of the bubble is the 70 yard pin. I started my son using that for practice which in turn made his 30 -40 yard shots that much easier.

I shot a bow with the Montana gold and that was a nice sight for sure. Just could not see paying that much for a sight.

just got a reply from lancaster archery and they said they only have 3 pin fix sight from HHA. Asked if I could mount the 3 pins and scope to my slider bracket, no go. I appreciate the heads up, got me excited there for a second. Thought I had my HHA back!

I changed setups in 2013. I talked to them at Montana & just almost had them send me one but I went with an IQ with Retina Lock & it changed my life!! I built a bracket to get more yardage out of it than I could with the factory holes on my bow. Never dreamed of being "accurate" beyond 50 yds much but I'm good to about 90 on "good" elk shots I feel now. Itll amaze you! It makes your form perfect! I shoot a 7 pin. .019" I believe I prefer red but most people I believe will say green.

I Shoot a hha optimizer light 5019, love it the only thing I would have liked is to have gotten the one with a rheostat that little pin can burst out a basketball at 30 yards if it has full sun

I am also in the market looking for a new archery sight. I hear and see nothing but positive things in regards to the Montana Black Gold. My questions is which on-line stores are you able to find a good deal on these sights ? I do most of my shopping at Cabelas and I see they do not carry these sights. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys !!

Call them directly if you're gonna go with the Black Gold. There are so many options they pretty much build it for you or that was my understanding when talking with them. I'm telling you boys tho LOOK INTO THE IQ SIGHT! IT CHANGED MY LIFE ON DISTANCE SHOOTING!!
