Liscense # Changes

Hello All -

Our group of 4 is planning to put in for the 1st rifle season in Unit 54 with no pp. Looking at last years numbers, from what I can tell there were only 6 NR with 0 pp that didn't draw. Is there a way to find out whether the number of available licenses will change from last year? Thanks.

Sorry I can't help you with that one but there are enough people up on the Colorado stats that I'm sure someone can.

The thing that crosses my mind when I read posts about Colorado licensing is the fact that you have to apply for a tag that is only good for one week. I talked to several people this week who had experience there and thought it was that was in other states as well. So a little FYI for those who aren't aware: When you buy a general elk license in Wyoming it is good for the entire month of September as well as the gun season which lasts up to six weeks. The Montana licenses are good for 6 weeks of bow starting the first Saturday in September and then 5 weeks of rifle ending on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Also.. neither of those states have a separate muzzleloader season which comes as a surprise to some people too. Bow and gun only.

There is no plans to change the number of tags for 1st rifle in unit 54.

Joe, I agree that Wyoming and Montana give you longer seasons and don't have separate muzzleloading seasons. However they don't have nearly the amount of elk as Colorado nor do they get the same amount of pressure that colorado has. I guess if you want to hunt Colorado you have to be on top of your game if you want to punch your tag here given how little time you have to get it done. Colorado produces better hunters that way. Most people don't get a whole lot of time to hunt. Usually a week to two. So whats the difference between spending a week in Montana or Wyoming compared to spending a week in Colorado? Colorado is equal to Wyoming and Montana if you're a bow hunter. September is September

I guess it depends on what season you are referring to. but if you are applying for Archery season tag in Colorado it is good for the entire season, approximately 30 days. Now if you are applying for a rifle season that is only week long then yes the tag is just good for that season.. But then again maybe I just misunderstood your “Colorado licensing is the fact that you have to apply for a tag that is only good for one week” comment….

Thank you all for the replies. Being that I'm out of state, I can only realistically take one week. If I lived closer, then what Indian Summer would make a lot of sense.
