Folks I received a call from the company today letting me know the mold would be done in 10 days! They will then send me a finished Bugle to check out before they run the rest of them. Geez, I can't wait! (grin) I'm pretty excited to see this finished product & more importantly listen to its tone! p.s. 1st photo shows Chuckler in the raw without it's camo elk sleeve & 2 tone dampeners flush with barrel. 2nd photo shows the molded in corrugation like an elks throat. This Bugle has the thickest walls of any bugle manufactured! It's gonna be sweet, you'll see!

You mentioned you are excited to hear it's tone. Did you have a prototype for the mold you had made for all your testing prior? Is there any difference in the manufacturing process or the materials from any prototype you designed this after. If you have a prototype can you post any sounds from it to show its capabilities prior to purchase. I'm interested!

Razorback, if you look just above the T on ElkNut in the 1st photo you will see a pre-drilled hole there, it's for the lanyard that comes with the Bugle, the other end will be a hangmans noose that slips to smaller or bigger so it will be fastened well on both ends! Thanks!

Craig, I do not have an exact prototype as there's nothing to compare it to. Yes I have a bugle here that is put together that simulates the one being made in size & length so I have a very good idea of it's quality of sound. The new one is .80 wall thickness, that's thick! I miched the wall thickness with calipers of 4 of the thickest bugle walls I could find & none are thicker that .65. I am also having the bugle poured with the hardest plastic pellet material that is available for this type of molding. This will give the bugle the potential for a very high note because of thickness & hardness if a guy/gal wants to really slam it with some coarse lip bawls. The corrugation molded on the inside is to help slow the air/sound down a fraction, I want to hold it in the barrel as long as possible within reason, when this occurs it will allow hunters to have an easier time to produce deeper chuckles & grunts when needed. The mouth piece opening is 1-1/4" this will help hunters out quite a bit for mouth reed use. There's not one thing that I'd point my finger at that is the difference, it's all the things mentioned combined! (grin)

Paul, would you recommend this for a beginner? Or is it aimed at advanced callers? Also, it sounds like it might be a pretty big and heavy bugle relative to other tubes---any idea the weight?

It is not relevant whether you are a beginner or advanced elk caller.

It is a grunt tube designed to amplify the sounds you make with the reed. What is important is how it amplifies the sound from high to low frequency range and the back pressure that allows the user to freely control the reed transition between notes.

When it comes to grunt tube, bigger means more volume and more thundering low notes. It has and will always be the low thundering end note that we have a hard time matching the real deal.

Some folks like small compact tube due to ease of carrying.

Some folks do not mind carrying a bigger tube (me).

mongopino915, thank you, very well explained in a nutshell! (grin) Most hunters these days are looking for sound quality, this bugle is designed to do exactly that! I really am not interested if it's used in a World Elk Calling Championship, I'm more interested in providing a Bugle that helps today's hunters sound better than they really are & do this quickly! A good solid reed is also needed so they compliment one another!

Brandon, I would & do suggest this Chuckler Bugle for any hunter new or older. It's design & description may sound heavy but it is not! It's 19" long & has a 3-1/4" barrel, it's thicker walled with a few other additions I mentioned above but it still weighs between 8-oz to 9-oz. This is the best guess that I have from the company producing them, as you can see that's not heavy at all! Guys/Gals, this is a very well designed & nice bugle, you'll like it! (grin)

Any time you can have different sounds out in the bush and sound different from everyone else I consider that a win win !!

Now Paul really peeked my interest with his new bugle tube for the simple reason of grunts and groans and chuckles !! Now you all know I love to chuckle to elk so this is no secret ! I can tell all of you I WILL be taking Paul's tube with me on my hunts this year !

With the new mouth piece being perfect for using reeds and the near bullet proof design the low sounding bugles and chuckles that will be possible with this new Chuckler tube.........Well you can tell I'm very excited to get mine !!

I can also tell you guys that Paul doesn't know it yet but I am going to use it at the World Elk Calling Championships next year as well !! Those judges are the harshest bunch you will ever call for ! So I'm going to give them sound like they have never heard before and this tube is going to help me do it ! The Moans and groans of real elk give a guy shivers when heard out in the bush and that's the sensation I am going to give to the judges ! They are going to think an elk is about to crawl all over them !!

Will the tube have some flexibility so you can "throw" your sounds if necessary Paul?

Dave, the New Chuckler does not have a flexible neck, we did away with that several years ago. We didn't see enough benefit or unusual encounters to the point of it being needed. We simply point the barrel in the direction needed to cast sounds in any direction with little to no issues! This new Chuckler is pretty sweet! You guys will love it & it's 19" 7-oz size with the thickest walls in the industry, this will help with those extra loud bugles when needed! Thanks!
