There is a thread going on Bowsite now,"WYO bill-another shot at NR's", take a look.

Really good read. I read the entire post. Some excellent responses and debate there.

I went over there & read it all as well, what is the actual increase? All I saw was the arguing/debating & much speculation like what ifs!!! What is the actual increase in dollars for an Elk Tag proposed to be come 2017? Did anyone read that? Like usual lots of emotion toiling around these types of subjects with few facts!

I didn't see the $ amount. I thought the 40% to 60% increase was in the number of tags assigned to NR's in the Special license which is like $500 more. But, I'm not sure about this.

This was my take also. NR's not willing to or unable to pony up for the "special" license will have fewer tags to draw from.

I'm not sure when the "Special" license was introduced, but I have 6 PP and I think it has been within the past six years, doesn't seem quite fair that they change the rules in the middle of the game. I know they need money, but hunting is quickly becoming a rich mans sport. I'm kind of surprised some one hasn't challenged this.

Current split,
40% special price Elk, $1071
60% Regular, $591

the proposal will switch the allocations to 60% Special, 40% Regular, on a per hunt basis.
Essentially they are reducing the regular price tags 30%. Pretty easy to see the consequences to your draw odds.

NR price increases haven't been brought up yet.

There has been no legislation to limit nr tags, other than the Sheep/Goat/Moose from 25% to 10% and it never made it out of committee.
