2015 Idaho elk hunt

Well, I will be making my first ever archery elk hunt this sept and first time to idaho hunting as well. Been to colorado before on a rifle hunt but with the research I have done I think I have a pretty good area picked out in Idaho. Gonna be hunting in unit 49 just outside of Bellevue end of September. Anyone hunt this area or have any experience hunting the pioneer zone? What types of calls should I focus on for this time of year? Thanks Chad

Chad, kind of a funny coincidence, I was just thinking about our conversation last fall, so I sent you a PM. I am about 99 percent sure that is the exact unit I will be in this year. Keep in touch, I am going to try to get out and do some scouting this year, that is if my wife will let me

There are no elk in Idaho, they're all in Colorado.. haven't you heard Sorry, I don't range that far south in Idaho but I'm sure a few folks will chime in.

I've only hunted 49 once and was for deer, but saw way more elk than deer. This was in 2013. Awesome country!

Spent a few days ATVing the area last summer. Made a few hikes after the ends of the ATV trails. Seemed like enough elk sign
Like so may areas get away from the roads and your hunt should be more enjoyable

Just purchased elknuts #9 beginner elk calling package! Can't wait to get it and start annoying the wife lol. This should help me out tremendously with what the sounds mean and when to use them. Very excited! September can't get here soon enough.
