IVe been planning 2015 trip and not sure if its going back to Colorado or not but if i do, im in search of Public vs private % in my planning.Does anymore know if any mapping or information that can be obtained that shows public land % vs private in Colorado?NO do you just have to guesstimate? Thanks for the info

You can probably look at DIY hunting maps! I use to use them while looking at Wyoming. It would give you that info along with elevation range, roads per sq. mile, difficulty level, .

This one has land ownership, topo, aerial view, big game summer/winter/migration range by season, search by GMU #, search by place name, GMU boundaries, forest service road and motorized trail status. It is kept up-to-date by CO CPW, USFS, CO State University.

I don't know all the details but at Cabala's or Bass Pro and probably lots of other places too. You can buy a chip for your GPS (Garmin I think) that will show you where you're standing Private or Public. Good for the whole state. Available for all the western states, not sure about the rest of the country. I'm sure someone on here will know more and chime in. Probably not what you need now but pretty neat tool to have if you're a newby to an area.

Tell ya what, I'll give ya a piece of golden CO otc wisdom. 99% of NR elk hunters hit the units with large percentages of public land. It only takes a small piece of land to kill an elk on. Good luck! Feel free to pm if you want my opinion of the areas you're looking at. I make a point to scout a few new otc units every summer and have hiked around quite a few good ones.
