Lightweight/Compact Cot Suggestions?

I use Roll-A-Cots. They are awesome. Not too bulky once they are broken down and in the bag. About as big around as a loaf of bread and 36 inches long. They weigh 10 pounds. Next fall I'll be flying in for moose and weight/size is a concern.

Can anyone suggest a cot that is lighter and stows away smaller? At a reasonable price. Not 2 or 3 hundred bucks.

I'm hoping to find something 4 lbs or less and 30 inches wide. Am I dreaming?

I roll around to much so I dont use a cot.
My neighbors crew have all gone to Cabelas cots, of every sort They horse pack some into their spike camp. I know Jon and his wife both use the Alaskan cot at
base camp.

Alaskan Cot.. 31 pounds. I'd need a Sherpa.

I roll around non stop. That's why I don't want one of those 24 inch wide jobs. But I do like to get up off of the ground to eliminate the lumps and bumps.

I can hear crickets chirping when I check this thread. I guess all the bivy hunters are just going with their sleeping pads.

I asked "Santa" for one of these. I needed something low to the ground to fit in my BA Fly Creek UL2. Slept like crap last Season on just a Thermarest pad...this product was recommended by someone who found it made a huge difference.

That's almost the same cot Dan. A carbon prototype from the same company. No reviews available. The LuxuryLite is nice but it is expensive. I considered it but read some reviews and saw pics of the round plastic part cracked. Users said it was nice but not solid and for the money they hoped it was built to last which it wasn't.

Elkmountaingear... if you want a pad that will definitely do the trick get the Exped DowntMat. It's unreal. If I don't find the cot I'm looking for I'll just take that. I always worry about inflatables. So I'll take my Cabela's Alaskan Guide pad as well. If anything were to happen to the inflatable and I was without a pad for 10 or 14 days I'd be in trouble. But that Exped is hands down the best pad I have ever owned. It also has the highest R value of ANY pad on the market.

I looked and tried different cots for pack in trips and after sleeping on a pad I'm going to stick with the pad. The deal breaker for me was warmth. I got cold on the bottom side with the wind under the cot. I think I might need to check out the exped.

No doubt Bow4me a cots main purposes are 1) to eliminate the lumps & 2) to give you the ability to level your sleeping area. I absolutely cannot live trying to sleep on anything other than level. Nothing is worse than working your way downhill into your bag all night. So the leveling is the main purpose in my opinion. I can eliminate the bumps with a good pad.

But as you said the downside is having air circulation underneath you. So actually a good pad is even more important on a cot. Use a cot with no pad and you'll freeze for sure. The Exped Downmat had goose down in it. That is what makes it the most insulating pad out there. So you cannot get moisture in the pad by blowing it up. The moisture would not only flatten the down making it lose it's insulative properties but also it would freeze. The pads have a built in pump that you push by hand to inflate them. It takes a few minutes but I like it. My search for the right pad ended when I researched and bought that. If anything ever happens to it I'll buy the exact same one. Mine is the Exped Downmat 9 in large. I don't like narrow cots or pads either because I roll over all night long. 30 to 32 inches wide is what I prefer.
