As You Found It!

Postby ElkNut1 » 12 10, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Let's see some photos of your elk exactly as you found it with no re-positioning it for photo taking, cow or bull. Here's one of mine & one of my sons where they laid! Let's see yours!

Wedged in a tree on a ~30 degree slope. I had to tie him off and "belay" him down the hill until I got him situated across the hill and stationary...

Steep hillside kill - the bull's legs were floating in the air. It was one tough afternoon/evening as a solo hunter.

I almost always take an "as they lay" pic...but these were the ones I had loaded on photo bucket within the first few pages.

Quartering away at 40 some yards, did the death wobble at 30 yards and down in 60.
I know the shot placement put him right down but it looks further back then I tought it should be.

This was quite memorable for me. After the shot I saw just the fletchings sticking out. A high double lung shot. As he was crashing off I started fist pumping cuz I knew what had just happened and no question about the shot placement. Then I heard him crash 30 yards later. When I walked up on him stuck between 2 junipers I was amazed because he was bigger than I thought :) the Gila is an amazing and unique area to hunt.
