Looking for a game camera.

I'm lookin to add another camera to my arsenal for next year and wanted to get opinions, pros & cons on what you folks are using. I would like to stay under $200, have a chip capacity around 4gb or higher, and good battery life of around 200 days. (My moultrie indicator says it will run 250 days).

just got done researching this.

most cameras dont come with a memory card, so you get to pick what size.

i just bought a Stealth Cam G30. super long battery life. IR flash up to 75 feet. which was really my tipping point. i wanted a camera i could cover a confluence of game trails..and i could set way back away..so it is more difficult to find and have stolen. for this reason, i also wanted a smaller unit..so it was like this big noticeable thing on a tree.

it has been hanging for 10 days. i am hiking in tomorrow to see if my camera ambush spot was a choice.

other bonuses? firmware updates free online..and a security code. if someone steals it, they cannot use it.

i got mine for $144 with camera, 2 gb card, lock box, lock cable. i'll cry if it gets stolen, but i wont die. if it works..i'll pick up a few others.

One of the better resources I've found. Tried lots of cheaper camera's wildview, wildgame innovations, moultrie, and bushnell. After lots of reading Browning will probably be my next. We don't have people issues, but bait bears that love to play with cameras so we stay on the cheaper ends of the spectrum.

I found that place too. Great resource. I found that browning at B&h photo for $129 and got a 16gb chip for $12. No shipping..

Having tried browning range ops, spec ops, and strike force i can say the strike force is hands down the way to go. I run 21 cams, 10 of which are brownings, and the strike force is awesome. The old bushnell x8 is also a great cam. Its available at wal-mart.com for $115. Its a 2012 model. The newer ones suck

My last camera was a Bushnel We paid less than $100 on Amazon. Same camera every where else started at 189

i ran around 10 cameras in 2013 and most of them were purchased here for under 100 bucks the models running on d cell batteries lasted all season and probably would have went beyond. search on some of my old post to see the picture quality. all my cameras were on public land so i didn't want to worry about losing a large investment. never lost a camera except to a spike bull chewing one up.

Whats your definitionof "all season?" The d cell cams have notoriously bad battery life. A good aa cam with lithium batts will go a full calendar year. And if you dont want elk chewing them check out the slate river ez aim mount. Mount them up out of reach. I wont buy a cam thats not threaded for them

i ran my cams from may til october. don't leave em out over winter. the d cell cams seemed to be just as good as the AA battery ones but none of mine are real high end camera's really.

We have ran a lot of different brands of cams. Best bang for your buck in my opinion is the moultrie m-880s.

If you go with thee 880s buy pre 2014. We have about six 2014s and have recently had issues with everyone. Pre 2014 are still money.

The moultries are not threaded for the slate river ez aim mounts so that disqualifies them for me. The mounts let you put the cam up high and still have it aimed right. People will notice a cam at eye level with python lock on it, but they never see a cam 12 feet up. All bushnell and browning cams are threaded for the mounts. Best way to thief proof is for your cam to go unnoticed.
