My Son Got a BIG one!

My Son, My wife, and I headed out on opening day of the MT rifle season. My son got a really nice bull. My Wife and I did some calling and we all worked in on the herd. We saw the Bull and Schafer got set up to Shoot. He made a couple great shots with a 7mm-08 to put the bull down. I think the first one did the trick but I had him shoot again just to be sure.This is the first day he could hunt with a rifle in MT! He came close with his bow a few times but With only one day a week to go after them because of football that was tough to pull off. We came very close though several times. He is a World Champion Elk caller so I guess this is a fitting first Elk. A great Team Effort For all of us. A very proud moment for all of us as well. Glacier Country Hunting Calls Strikes Again!
Oh and a Thank You Shout out to our friends Ian (who I now call "Beast Mode") and his wife Rebecca for their help with the pack out.

What year did your son win at the World Elk Calling Championship's and can you post the video as maybe a few people could learn a few effective calls from a championship caller.

I hope he doesn't mind shooting a smaller elk next year as this one will be hard to beat for him.

We Are going to get this one shoulder mounted so he will be mowing lawns and shoveling snow to pay for the taxidermy bill.
I believe he is the youngest Pee Wee World Champ. He won when he was 5 years old. He is now 12 and is an outstanding caller. We don't put any videos of him or my daughter up so they can still call in contests if they want to, as an amatuer, but he can give me a run for my money when it comes to calling. I think he won in 2008.My whole family placed well. I was 4th,my daughter took 3rd, my wife took 2nd and my son won. We have only gone and done the RMEF World Elk calling once.... It was fun but there are so many other things we have going on. Now they hold it in December and my Job will not let us take off any time in December, due to the Xmas Rush so it doesn't look like we are going this year either.
He is very happy about this bull but would have been, a happy camper with a nice 5pt. He is a humble kid. He came oh so close with a bow a few times . We located these elk during bow season and put the moves on them opening day.

Everybody wants to know where we were at....
We were north of Red Lodge, South of Canada, East of Idaho and West of Glendive. Way up Notellum Ridge! LOL!!!
