headed out soon

Postby dreamhunter » 09 14, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Well I have been getting all my stuff together and getting it ready to load here in a couple of days. I head out on Wednesday afternoon and stay a little more than the halfway point then head on into town on Thursday. This way I have late morning and early afternoon to get to my spot and set up camp.My buddies just left the area on Friday. They shot one cow and saw lots of elk. ( Bulls and Cows). Most of the bulls they saw were running. One of the guys had a shot at a nice bull, but at the last second before release the bull spooked out. Another one of the guys had a nice 5x5 sneak in on him from his right and he wasn't even expecting it,All he could do was look at it.
I'm going out with great expectations and can't wait for an opportunity to use some of the new stuff I have learned from Paul and Paul Jr on the latest cd.I know I'm gonna see more elk this year and they should be all fired up by the time i get there.I will be going solo this year again. My buddy can't get away and the gang from Georgia has already been there and gone.I don't see a lot of hunters where I hunt so it will be nice to have it to myself .It's been exciting to read all your stories so far and some of them have got me pretty fired up.I hope I have cell service and if so I will be in contact and post whats going on. On a white tail note one of my friends here in Ks took his son out for the last day of youth season and he shot his first buck.A nice 6x6. He's 6 or 7 yrs old.

I got the topper on my truck today and thought I would load a couple of things to see how things were gonna fit this year. I have my new wall tent and I'm anxious to try out, even if it is only me this year. Anyways, next thing I know my truck is loaded and ready to go. I still have to wait until Wed afternoon to leave. Oh yea, everything fit just fine and then I noticed the poles for the tent still standing in the garage ,( OMG ) that would have been bad to forget them. I'm ready and I'm anxious to get there.
