I leave on my 2 week elk hunt and I rolled my ankle! I can walk with a limp but any step that causes my ankle to lean in or out hurts like hell. 5 days to recover isn't much but I waited a year for for this day to arrive so I will just have to suck it up. I heard 2 pops when it happened and it hurts just below my ankle on the outside of my foot. I bought an ankle support that limits any side to side movement so I hope that helps it heal faster.

Yes sir, that's a bummer! Hope you have some good 10"-11" hunting boots that will support your now weakened ankle? These days that's all I wear for hunts! Heal up quick & get out there! (grin)

Man getting older is tough! The things that you used to do with ease now hurts and you don't recover nearly as fast.

Paul, my 11" boots fit well with the ankle support so I will be wearing it for the entire hunt even if my ankle feels better.

We were bringing our climbers anyway so I may be sitting on a trail for the first couple of days if they are still using the area like last year.

Pick up some aspercreme. I hurt my leg one year on an elk hunt and it got so bad I could barely walk down the trail. I started aspercreme and applied it 3x daily, as well as ibuprofen I was already on and it allowed me to keep hunting.

Well I am leaving in the morning and my ankle is much better, about 80% and getting better by the day. I have been icing it daily and using the Aspercreme ctdad recommended and making good progress. I will continue to wear my brace throughout my hunt regardless just as a precaution.
