anyone ever stay at sportsmens camp and mtn cabins in sw co?

I have been lurking here for a while and finaly got a profile set up. I got invited to go hunt in the San Juan ntl forest the 2nd week of September with a buddy and his dad that drew muzz tags. They hunted out there back in the late 90's, and stayed at a place called Sportsmens Campground and Mountain Cabins not too far from Pagosa Springs. This is a spur of the moment trip for me and my first time ever out west. I have been bowhunting whitetails very hard for about 15 years mainly all on public land with my stand and sticks but I know this is a whole new ball game lol...I have been non stop researching for every tid bit of info I can take in on western hunting for the last month, as that is when I found out I was going. I don't have high expectations on killing this trip but im going to try as hard as I can to get a shot at one. Im not looking for the golden ticket but just wondering if you guys had any advice on what to expect or not expect from this campground or region of Colorado. Im leaving next Saturday and will be staying in a tent that's on a site with power and water, and they said there is also a shower/bathroom house to clean up in. Im not in top shape but I have been running 8-12 miles a week and averaging 8 minute miles on 3-5 mile runs. Im also 27 and going to be hunting with two other buddies that are my age and in decent shape. Im kind of rambling here but just trying to get all these thoughts out of my head and here what you guys have to say, I know Ive learned a ton from lurking on here and realy appreciate how helpful everyone here is! I also posted a similar thread over on AT but didn't get many replies. Again, thanks in advance for any info!

Are they Forest Service/ guardhouse cabins?
Ive stayed in FS cabins in Alaska,and Minnesota and have looked into a few of them in Idaho They have always been decent, but only as nice as the last group left them
Kind of an unknown little secret in the outdoor world

I never had been lucky enough to stay at Sportsman but we hunted 2nd rifle season and there is a waiting list for the place. We tried to get into a cabin with no luck for 3 years. Instead we stayed at a condo in Pagosa ( Aspinwinds) it was a long drive to our hunting spot everyday. We did stop in at Sportsman the people are very nice, and it a short drive to be hunting. Like you said there is a bathroom house, I think there is a place to hang your elk????? if you shot one next to the road. PM me if you need help with a area to start with. We only hunted there for 3 years and it's been 5 years scene the last trip, and well be going back next year for muzz if we get drawn. Also I think you need 3 post before you can PM me.
