Simmons Landshark

Anyone ever used the Simmons Landshark 2 blade on elk (165 or 125g)?

I gave them a good hard look at one time when I was shooting Trad. No doubt they'd do the trick once razored up. I think it has the appearance to many that they'd be tough to sharpen but I have no experience there with them. If shot out of a compound they do look like accuracy could suffer with high speeds or shots over 40 yds? Haven't tried that either but look like they could catch some serious wind!

They fly like field tips at 40, and I can keep them in a 8" plate most of the time at 50. I have the KME sharpener and it seems to work ok. I also purchased the Simmons sharpening kit and it makes it very easy to get it hair shaving sharp. I like the theory behind the concave head and also like the 2 blade for max penetration. Just hoping that a few more elk hunters use them vs what it looks like on the forums.

I would have to agree, but I haven't shot them. They don't have the appearance that they are vented enough to cut through the air without planning at the high speeds of today's compounds. I shot Zwickey Black Diamonds, for years, but as speeds increased, they just wouldn't fly true.

See the bull in my avatar? he was stumbling and staggering within 2 seconds of a Simmons TreeShark slamming through the goodies. I've tested them in strong(30-40 mph) crosswinds and had fieldtip performance from them out to 30 yards. I shoot a longbow so your results may vary at distance, but if you get good flight, go for it. They are devastating.
