I have three kids two girls 6 and 7 and my boy 13 months old (somebody must have been In rut last season)ha ne ways i cant wait to share the times i have in the woods with my kids i just hope the Girls still wanna when they are old enough to hunt i need some more time with them and guns but i want them to start rabbit hunting first and real soon hopefully next year i was just wondering @ what age did the rest of you start ur kids hunting even small game

Nothing as exciting as showing your children the glories of nature. My daughter was 10 when she killed her first deer she's fixing to be 15 and her room is totally pink camo including her biggest buck who's skull is dipped in pink camo.

My second a boy was 8 when he killed his first deer and he's hooked but he likes to turkey hunt better than deer I think! He's killed really nice toms the last 2 years. He's 12.

Last but not least child number 3 another boy ( pray for their sister) he is 8 and he killed 3 deer last year. A buck and two does!

They are all good shots they have killed 10 deer between them no misses no wounded animals! Am I proud u bet!! Get a gun in their hands teach them safety and not to fear that loud bang and they will surprise you!

I like a little quote I've seen, "Teach your children to love God first, family second, then hunting, fishing, and the outdoors and by the time they are 18 no drug dealer in America can teach them anything!!!

My son started going hunting with me when he was 4 years old. Took him pheasant hunting. Some time he would walk fields some times he would just hang out in the truck. As he got older I started taking him on longer trips. I started taking him on elk hunting when he was eight years old. I would do late season hunts that were brutally cold. I was fortunate to have my father come along and when my son got restless from sitting or got cold my dad would take him back to the tent to warm up. I didn't start pushing him at this age. Just felt it out and see where he was with it. I let the weather do the dirty work for me. As he started getting older I would take him on multiple hunts and introduce him to different conditions and styles of hunting. I would be up front with my expectations and what he would have to be prepared for. I allowed him out of school for the whole season cause that's of course what he most wanted but I made him learn and put the time in and I quit letting him go back to the tent. He eventually learned that hunting all day can be fruitful and was really into it. I sat back and let his natural abilities take over and started guiding him with his own decisions. As a father of a 15 year old young man I can say I am very proud of my son and his hunting accomplishments so much so that together we are doing the super ten and I wrote him a personal letter about how much our hunting together has changed my world. Good on you for taking your kids out and getting them out doors... No kid ever recalls their best day of watching tv or playing video games. But damn I can tell you everyone of the best days of my life hunting.

heres my oldest this spring, he is 8. this was his first turkey. but all three of my boys have been hunting with me on several occasions!

We need more youth learning the hunting heritage. Great job guys involving your kids.
