Huge blood trail

My buddy was telling me about a time his dad shot a deer and the blood trail was huge. He said the trail was 4foot wide with blood all over it. Can this really happion? Foes anyone have any crazy blood trail story's?

Sometimes the most perfect hit won't leave much of a blood trail.....but one isn't needed when you watch them fall

It can happen and will if u have enough punch to run an arrow all the way thru and u hit an artery I've seen trails like this and as Swede said they usually go down in sight

The blood trail can be wide when the blood is squirting out. Obviously they won't go far that way. I did not see the blood trail so I cannot say how wide it was, but my son killed a bull last September. He clipped an artery and it spurted lots of blood and collapsed not far from where it was shot.

I shot a WT doe in the snow late December with a Rage Hypodermic, (which I won't use for elk) at about 15 yards. I hit both lungs and an artery right at the top of her heart, and there was a 2' wide blood trail for about 70 yards before she fell over. It was a combination of blood spray from her nose, and the artery spurting blood from the exit wound. It was a devastating hit, and I couldn't believe she ran that far. It looked like someone had had a paint sprayer walking behind her.

Twice I got called to help track a"huge" blood trail on a white-tail. both times the deer was hit above the back shoulder just below the neck, both deer recovered ( and later shot )

Ive shot two rifle bulls with frontal shots, , and like my daughters moose one fleck of blood found,all three hitting the heart all three bled out on the inside

This blood trail was HUGE in my opinion. As I wrote in Extreme Elk it looks like someone poured red paint cans out on the trail. 2nd best blood trail I have ever tracked in my 22 years of hunting.

I shot a cow quite a few years ago that went across an area with tall dead grass. I could see the blood trail as far as I could see the grass. It was just a red 3 ft wide swath in the dead grass. She only went about 60 yards.
