my wife bought me a GoPro. now what?

she is so excited for me and my bowhunting. she wanted to get a camera to film my hunt.

the camera is charging. the accessory list is crazy daunting. my main thing, i want to set it up next my turkey decoys and get some action photos of arrows flying in for the mayhem.

bow mounting it? seems like it would be too wide angle..but whatever. i will try. what do i need to buy to get it to work to film bowhunting? am i mounting it on the stabilizer?

Or use the chest or head mount. You can change the settings from wide angle to whatever you want. They also make awesome time lapse shots. Takes a picture at any interval you want and then plays it in a movie. Killer for sunsets. If you use it to hunt make sure you cover the blinking light that shows it's recording.

p.s. - In some states as Idaho it's illegal to have one mounted to your bow.

I have mine mounted on my stabilizer and it works pretty good from a tree out to about thirty yards. I have mine set to narrow view which is like a zoom. I'm hunting NM this year, does anyone know if they are legal ?

Think I'm gonna rig up a shoulder mount to aim down my bow arm. Maybe attach it to my shoulder pad on my pack.

You will love it! It's got a good picture for how small it is. Some of my friends have some of the cheaper cameras and the go pro has a better picture. I bought a mini hdmi cord and plug it directly into my flat screen. It just looks better then watching on my laptop.

I use mine all the time,I like the head mount,very easy to turn on and off, and the video is real stable, don't have to worry about it, where you look is where it films. One drawback is you need to be fairly close,super wide angle, and also if you have the extra piggyback battery,seems to drain the pro if you leave it attached. Batterie life is short to begin with,bring a charging system.
I'm bringing mine this year also, and plan on using it only during close encounters to save bat.

Did my first vid. Yesterday's mtn bike ride. It is ridiculous! Super clear and stable.

Pointy Ive been playing with a little bigger (I have to have my 40 x zoom) camera attaching it to my shoulder strap with the clip shot and it works good. Should work great with a go pro. Shoulder is better for using zoom as I can see what I'm filming. Head is more stable as you wont get the breathing motion. Tough to beat the versitility of of that little thing for $15.

in colorado nothing battery operated on bow. where legal i use metal shelf mount suppoert bracket glue go pro mount to bracket drill hole and put on stabilizer. as others stated if you want to see your shot on animal set to narrow angle and somewhere in the settings you can turn all the flashing lights off too. the head mount is great just remember to turn it slightly toward your front or non dominant shoulder good luck

i just shut off the flashy light! the worst thing about the camera? the instructions. why did they print is so small. i can barely read the thing. it's probably because they built the camera for the young, extreme people. with young eyes.

I have mine mounted on my riser. Took a little from the handlebar mount kit and the frame mount kit to make it work. I do like it but in the woods anything over 30yds is hard to make out. Last year I called in a nice 6x6 have the whole thing on video. Its just hard to make the whole thing out. I would spend a lot of time playing with the settings for low light. At any rate I sill like it and for the weight it does its job.
