Will you par take

Postby under H2O hunter » 07 23, 2014 •  [Post 1]

With Washington and Colorado both legalizing marijuana I am curious if other hunters plan on toking it up? I am talking about hunting high as well as using it to help with the sore muscles, head aches, and other recovery benefits that weed can help with? I am thinking about writing an article for some of the outdoor magazines regarding this topic to help undo the misconceptions about weed for one. As well as it's positive and negative attributes

As a 37 year old father of two I grew up as an athlete and was never one for partaking in smoking up until about 2 years ago. I was involved in a head on collision when a one ton truck hit me head on while I was driving my brand new ATV down a mountain the day before opening day. It totalled my ATV and compressed several vertebrates in my spine. I don't like taking pain killers as they mess with my stomach and have major side effects. So I lived in pain for many years until I was suggested to look into the benefits of weed. For a couple years now I have managed my pain through the use of medical marijuana and the care of a doctor.

Recently I have been talking with several people about the use of weed and my hunting (including my doctor). Last year I only smoked when my muscles were hurting while sitting back in camp at night eating dinner. It got me thinking during the off season about it's use and how it might help me in other areas of my life including hunting. I find myself focused under certain strains as well as picking up sound I think I may have missed if I wasn't medicated. Now be it the fact that I was high and it could be my subconscious and I don't have any facts to back this up. But I have seen such positive things come from its use that I have started training in my yard shooting high. I practice just like I would hunt. I sprint 40 yards then draw and hold my draw for 1 minute while my son times me before I shoot at 30 to 50 yards. I also shoot kneeling and in various positions. I have seen the effects both be positive as well as negative when it comes to my training. When I am shooting I am very focused and all my shots this summer have been spot on. Now for the negative. I have found myself not doing the amount of cardio exercise as much as I had hope to do. I hope it doesn't effect me this season. I have also noticed that I am more sluggish in the mornings after smoking more then my usual amount needed to ease my pain. It's a trial by fire right now.

So for the rest of you out there, I am wanting to hear your thoughts on the use of marijuana both recreational and medically where it pertains to hunting? For those of you that are for it, what things do you think would make for a good article? What things are you curious about?

Thank you

James you asked for our thoughts and I'll just be straight with you. I won't be hunting in either of those states and even if I were I wouldn't partake. Plus I would hope that I'm not in the woods with someone that is high with a weapon in there hands. By your description it sounds like you are justifying reasons to get high for reasons other than the medical purpose intended by saying it helps you focus(perhaps practicing this summer has sharpened your skills and focus). Next you may convince yourself that you need to get high at work or other areas of your life in order to stay focused.

I'm not debating the topic. I'm just a concerned fellow elk hunter that doesn't want to see anybody get hurt.

No I will not. Although it may be legal in those states I am drug tested on my job and the consequences for a positive test is immediate termination and even if there were no work consequences I still would not do it. With it being legal in Colorado, now I have to be even more cautious so I am not around anyone smoking marijuana just to protect my job! I also agree with elk-n-walley and don't want to be around anyone that is high with a weapon in their hands.......legal or not. In my opinion those states that have legalized it will see far more problems in the long run than the few tax dollars they will receive from it.

This is quite the topic for this forum, but you brought it up, and I have some thoughts, so I'll partake in the discussion, but that's it. No, I won't be smoking in the mountains, nor anywhere else. I smoked a few times in college, but it was always when my judgement was impaired from having one or 10 too many beers and often times swayed by a desirable woman. To this day, I think the only reason I did it was to rebel, and I never really liked it. It only made me want to eat chicken nuggets with BBQ sauce and go straight to sleep. However, if you do smoke, and are not pushy about me doing it, I could care less. I know a lot of people that are upstanding professionals and community leaders that do in fact smoke pot, and unless you knew for certain, you'd have no idea they were high. Has it become a dependency for them? I can't tell you. I hear marijuana is not addictive, but I truly believe that they couldn't just quit at the drop of a hat for no reason without some struggles. While I also don't think marijuana is dangerous like meth, heroin, cocaine, or other numerous chemicals that have been introduced into our world, I do think it impairs a person to a certain extent, or it wouldn't be used for medicinal purposes. Here's where I struggle with myself; I think it should be legalized, taxed, and controlled, just like alcohol and tobacco. I don't know how it would work, nor do I care to think that far into it, as I like to avoid politics, but it doesn't seem quite fair to me, that a person can get life in prison for growing a field full of pot, but a child rapist or murderer can get off with 10 years of time... Would I want my hunting partner high, when we could be faced with a life or death situation at the drop of a hat at 11,500 feet at 2:00 am if a bear decides he wants to cuddle with us? Not only no, but HELL no!!! That is just my opinion though, and some people might react better to certain circumstances when high, but I know I wouldn't, and wouldn't want my life dependent on a guy who was stoned out of his gourd.

NO NEVER HAVE, NEVER WILL. I told my buddy it could be good hunting because some hunters could be to stoned to even get out and hunt, or could be bad because of all the new Big Foot sightings.(grin)

No- and I wont be hunting with people using alcohol during hunting hours either. I am in the construction business and I can promise you that no matter how innocent or in control you think you are impaired - - people die. What you do in an absolutely controlled environment is your business and I do follow the Ten Commandments regarding judging others and will not ever invade on your rights or privacy. I will judge however when it comes to endangering the lives of others for a high. Anytime that you think that you can perform impaired - - - I will be more than happy to direct you to some children whose fathers will not be coming home from innocent joints smoked during lunch.

Lived in CO all my life, had my share of toxins "back in the day," no alcohol or drugs for many years. I work in the medical field, and many of my patients get some benefit from medical marijuana, RE sleep, appetite/nausea, chronic pain. To me the recreational use of it is on a par w alcohol: legal, something to be careful around. The main impacts so far in CO of legalization have been huge tax $, and more people driving slow and stupid. Are they texting, stoned, or both?

I don't hunt around others much, most of the impaired hunters are on or near roads (I hope). To me the attraction of hunting is that is is immediate and all-consuming. I enjoy being totally focused on the environment and the elk. Whatever distracts from that is not gonna happen. So, no matter what your toxin of choice may be, keep it safe out there!

CRS 33-6-123 forbids hunting while under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. Penalty is a Court Summons and 20 points.

Absolutely not worth the risk, and after meeting you recently, I'd think it wouldn't be worth the risk to you and your son to lose the privilege of hunting this great state. Do what you want in camp but I'd recommend not hunting while high. I'd hate for you to need these guys: http://www.weedenlaw.com/hunt.htm

I won't be hunting either state, and even if I were I would not partake. I'm not going to debate the politics of it, and I really don't care if any of you choose to get high. I do not believe that using M has improved your shooting skills, maybe relaxed you a bit, is why you think you are shooting better. I would think that a person who is high would be in more danger, say crossing a scree field, etc. You aren't allowed to drive impaired for a reason, I think hunting would also fall into this category. Also, I couldn't carry enough snacks, in my pack to hunt high

I don't hunt in those States at the moment but even if I did I would not par take while hunting. It's to grinding for me to add anything like being high into the mix. I would be fine with someone doing it at night after hunting, but for myself I would get far to lazy and prob eat all my food the first night or 2.

Is there a "field sobriety test" or is it a judgment call whether or not you are impaired? I don't understand how you can test for it like BAC%. BTW, none for me, thanks.

Never! Not sure about your focus theory, that might be debatable if you had an outside observer be the judge. That being said I am not against it for a medical purpose being used with discretion obviously its helped you with your injury issues...problem arrises with anything that impairs judgement especially when carrying a weapon!

None for me, but if someone at camp was smoking some it wouldn't bother me any (my tree-hugger hiking buddy smokes all the time). I personally think it is a lot better than alcohol. With that said, I would be strongly against anyone smoking weed WHILE hunting. That doesn't seem very safe for you or a ethical hunting practice.

It is also illegal to posses marijuana while on federal property such as National Forest just so everyone is aware. So just because you can smoke it legally at home doesn't mean you can smoke it legally in the woods. I appreciate your concern and I hear what you are saying.

This is a very slippery slope for sure and there are many new laws that need to be erected regarding the use of weed. I also believe that most people have no idea about the effects of weed. Although Colorado and Washington are treating weed like alcohol with regard to purchasing and such. The effects are much different then alcohol. Which is why I am a huge advocate for controlled testing and research regarding the use of weed and its effects in various situations. A lot of people have comment here saying " They wouldn't be around someone who is high with a weapon in their hand" I am curious as to what has brought these people to this conclusion? Would these same people be around someone who has had just one or two beers? By definition a person could be impaired with just one or two beers. However are they likely to hurt themselves or someone else? I don't think so. Just like I don't think taking one or two puffs of weed would put anyone one including the person doing the toking in a bad situation. Certainly more research needs to be done. I agree with everyone here as well as I too wouldn't want to be dependant on someone who is stoned out of their mind. Nor would I want to depend on someone who is drunk out of their mind. But for those that have never smoked let me shed a little light for you. Just like drinking a beer will not make you "WASTED" taking a single puff will not make you "STONED OUT OF YOUR MIND"

I am not justifying anything, I am merely bring a subject up for discussing. Am I curious about its effects regarding hunting? Yes... Will I be hunting high? I don't know yet. This is why I am practicing and evaluating it. I don't "NEED" to use weed during the day, at work, or anywhere else outside of my home for that fact. But for me it does slow me down and focus more just like ritalin for ADHD people, weed does seem to have similar effects for me. As to your statement about practicing. I have been shooting my bow year round for many many many years and I can tell you that this summers experiments wasn't changed because I was "practicing"more. My routine in getting ready for bow season hasn't changed except for the cardio conditioning. I do blame the side effects of weed on that.

I think you could be right that I was very relaxed during my back yard experimental sessions. I agree with you that crossing a boulder field could put someone who is high at greater risk for getting hurt. With regard to driving impaired there is a BAC test and experiments that have shown that one is impaired at .08 and legally can't drive. Unfortunately there is not enough testing yet to see where the line is on weed. As I have stated before. One beer doesn't make you impaired enough to not be able to drive. At least for this 250 lb male. Yes I know if I was female and weighted 100 pounds that could be different. Just like one or two puffs doesn't get me stoned or even close to not being able to think clearly.

In my final thoughts. I want to say this. The subject certainly brings strong feelings and convictions to the discussion like talking politics, sexual preference, or religion. Which is what I am hoping to accomplish through my article and discussion here. I believe that people have very misguided information because of media or hearsay rather then hard evidence. Like all of you that have commented here I to don't ever want to see anyone get hurt or in trouble because of poor choices weather thats because of weed, alcohol, or anything else. I appreciate all of your responses and I want to thank you for participating in this discussion.

UnderH20Hunter, Let me ask you a question then. Honestly, because I don't know. Does being high affect your performance at absolutely anything you do? Anything? I understand the calming effect, and pain relief, not through personal experiences at all, but through mainstream media and a little informative reading I've done. Are you able to still think as clearly as when you're sober, or are you sacrificing one sense for another, i.e. pain relief from your accident for a duller sense of sight, smell, touch, etc? I honestly don't know, because even in the past, when I have smoked, I was always drunk, so my senses were already impaired form alcohol, so I don't know about the direct affects from Mary Jane herself. It was college, you know how those things go. Does pot also make you forgetful? I know the old joke is a pothead will forget where they put their pot, because they were high when they hid it, but is it just an inaccurate stereotype, or is that an affect?

Hey, let's quarterback this topic a bit more. There are no Taco Bells, 7-11's, or Baskin Robbins on the mountain which means....a guy may hunt harder if they have had a puff or two of the green. Why? Well, isn't an elk just a big old muchie on the hoof  Wait a second... what were we talkin about? Hmmmm, well, hmmm, ummmm, dang it, ummmm let me think.... oh yah! I was heading to get a slushy and some doghnuts 8-)

No, not for me, even if it is completely legal. I played around for a bit with the green in my younger days (many, many moons ago), even while hunting, and what I found is that it made me (my opinion only) stupid, paranoid, and ultimately lazy. I know the stuff has some valid medical/medicinal uses which is fine but as others have said, the elk woods is really not a place to have my senses anything less than 100%.

i really dont think its a good idea to be hunting stoned. but damn think how many idiots think its okay to drink while hunting? of the two i guess id rather have people high on pot in the woods than people drunk on whiskey and beer. i dont smoke, really just because id lose my job if i did, but i do drink, tho i absolutely dont drink when im hunting. drinking season is all year, hunting seasons are short, i want to prioritize hunting. plenty of time to get your buzz on after hunting seasons are over.

While it's not my chosen lifestyle, I will not frown upon or judge those that partake. I have past experience on the subject and know what it's about, and do not feel threatened one bit by other people doing it. To a large degree this is a generational issue. The chronic of my day is not the same as the shwag the baby boomers got to experience. It's like the difference between a prime rib dinner and a big mac.

In hindsight I may not have been able to get through those upper level physics and math classes during college without the influence of THC. It really heightens the focus, patience, and concentration level for some people. Maybe I can say it got me an Engineering degree....lol. I can see where this would be beneficial while hunting, but I've never tried it. And this is somewhat ironic because I've done just about everything else stoned at one time or another in the past.

The real world effects vary with the individual. Some people can handle it while others can't. Those that can't handle it, tend to ruin it for those that can. Much like everything else. The biggest negative effect I have witnessed is the drop in motivation. But again some people naturally have a higher level of motivation to begin with so there is not much of a problem for some. For others it's devastating. There is no comparison with alcohol. With alcohol no one can handle it and the results are more predictable, consistent, and proven to be deadly. It's apples and oranges. I would much rather have a hunting buddy who is stoned versus one who is drunk.

Let's take this a step further.....shrooms :)
Never have I felt more connected and alive then when I was on a shroom trip in the middle of the forest. Only those that have done this will understand. Those that haven't will probably get offended and be judgmental.

Everybody gets to pick their poison ;)

Great questions... It really depends on the strain of weed that I am smoking. Sativa strains are what I like to refer to as "Wakie" weed. Meaning that I don't get tired or lazy while high. Indica strains are what I refer to as "Sleepy" weed. Meaning that I get very relaxed and tired while on them. If I smoke wakie weed I am very productive and have found to be more aware of myself and my surroundings. It makes me energetic and I seem to accomplish more things then when I am smoking "sleepy" weed however I am more "Stoned" then when I am on sleepy weed because Wakie weed as a highter THC level then Sleepy weed. Sleepy weed however has more of the pain relieving properties that I like for medicating. Which is due to the fact the the CBD's in them are higher. (CBD's are the medicinal properties in weed) CBD's are a compound in weed that has medical effects but does not make people feel “stoned” and can actually counter the psychoactive effects. Both strains seem to improve my sense of taste and feel. I am still debating the effects of hearing. This in part to the fact that I have 70% hearing loss in my right ear from many busted ear drums from freediving and loud noises. However at times I do think that I pick up softer tones better when I am high. My doctor said that that is not possible but I think differently. I would really like to be tested more in this area. As for mental capacity and thinking clearly. This is where the true debate is. Like alcohol weed is similar in that the more you intake the more you become unaware and can become complacent as well as forgetful. It doesn't seem to carry over to when I am sober. But I have forgotten little things such as where I put the remote control, lighter, soda, ect ect ect when I am "STONED". This is where I believe a lot of people have a misconception. If you only take a puff or two you're not forgetful or complacent. Just as you are not weaving all over the roads after having a beer or two. But if you smoke to much you will be. Just like having a 6 pack can make you unbalanced and impaired. Regarding my sight I wear contacts and I have not seen any effects regarding my direct line of sight. I have seen things in my peripheral more or at least seem to be more aware of my surroundings at times while being medicated.

This quote right here is the reason for me doing this article and wanting to see more research done. I personally believe that it doesn't make your senses less then 100% I believe at times and under certain conditions it enhances them. Now I am not an expert nor do I claim to know much about weed. Through personal experience and conversations with medical professionals I am hoping to find out more about this subject pertaining to hunting. As I have stated before. This is a very slippery slope and there is still a lot of research that needs to be done. Colorado and Washington are the starting blocks with lots of questions to still be answered. If science and facts could prove that your senses were heightened rather then diminished would you use it?

I never have and doubt I ever will. But I do have friends that smoke weed and I really don't care if anyone does as long as I don't have to listen to the b.s. about it from them. With that said, I would be willing to bet that there will be a lot of hunters in the woods this year smoking weed. I drive all over Denver for work and see lot's of out of state cars parked at the weed shops, so why wouldn't someone from out of state who likes weed not stop and pick some up? It's no different than people who live in dry counties. Personally, I'd rather deal with someone who's high than someone who's rip roaring drunk and belligerent.

Just remember to be sure of your target if you smell skunk.

No, I won't and it won't be welcome in my camp.

I wait all year for elk season, I don't want anything screwing it up that can be prevented.

Everybody gets to pick their poison ;)

id never consider hunting on mushrooms, but since you bring it up, i used to go up into the mountains by myself for an overnighter with a bag of mushrooms a few times a year. sleep under the stars, no tent. pretty amazing thing, to be that removed from everything and everyone, and enjoy the effects of psilocybin mushrooms. probably been about 5 years since ive done it, but im sure one of these days ill stumble upon some by accident, and then who knows, maybe ill pick them and save them for a rainy day.

Will you par take

Postby Navesgane » 07 25, 2014 •  [Post 28]

I'll wait till I'm done hunting for the day to partake in any mind-altering substance including alcohol. No I don't think weed or booze (in moderation: not stoned and/or drunk) is going to harm anyone else but the user. I live and play in telluride population 2000, weed dispensaries; 5 and our crime rate is very low and everyone for the most part are friendly and non-violent. I don't think pot is the devil that we've been led to believe for many generations and recent studies and statistics are proving that.

Feel free to not comment. This is research for an article there are plenty of other useless threads you can give your opinion on. Fact remains that it's legal and more states are accepting it. So there are gonna be people who are interested in knowing. Rosa parks once took a stance and look what happened cause of that. ;-)

This topic stayed civil much longer than I expected. I've smoked before (college partying, etc) and I sure didn't do it for glaucoma or back pain. I wouldn't hunt while under the influence of THC, alcohol or just about anything stronger than ibuprofen and caffeine. Although, to be honest, I don't care if someone else is doing it. It is your responsibility to be legal, safe and give our sport a good name (last one is my opinion). I know someone who lives in chronic pain and I've seen how it has almost ruined their life. I am not in those shoes so I won't judge.

I have hunting buddies that use it at night to sleep while we camp. THC is not my thing. Never been able to control how high I end up being. Have plenty of close friends that do it all the time, and it doesn't seem to effect anything they do.

I will say that anyone coming to Colorado better get used to it being around. The shops in town where I live are full all the time. And it's not with young kids. It's people of all ages, and from all over the world. The clerks are very knowledgeable as far as getting you headed in the direction that you are looking for, whether it's to get stoned for the good time, or looking for something with very little to zero THC that will help for medicinal purposes. I hope you find the info you are looking for.

As far as those who aren't tolerant about the use of weed and say they won't hang around people that smoke, your pot smoking buddies probably just know not to let you know they smoke.,

For all those that got offended one way or the other. This is really a yes/no answer.

Just say "no" and move on. Some folks have the same answer for booze. Nothing to take personal.

Very well said sir... Regarless of your stance on it... It really is yes or no I am honestly surprised at how people really are judgemental about something like this.

I hope everyone is successful this year and I appreciate everyones answers and thank you for all the great things to think about and to write about...

Just a last thought on the subject. Please forgive me Elknut1 and strike me down if I'm off base but I have a huge problem with this (my first and last political post of the year), but, I personally do not feel that this illegal drug, (federally speaking), which has been been through the gauntlet of scientific studies over the years, has a place in the mountains of CO, WA, ID, MT, NV, NM, OR, WY, etc.. I'm not positive, but I believe it was the NY Times that mentioned within the last week that weed should be legalized nation wide. Uggh. This stuff affects ambition and it's documented. Check out what's happening in CO and soon to be WA after their pending annual hemp fest. The homeless shelters are booming with 18-25 year olds who travelled to CO, and soon to WA, because mary jane was legalized. They are seeking and receiving aid because they cannot get a job.. ya think? I personally believe that if this ridiculous trend continues, the majority of our society will be dependent on the government for well, just about everything. There's a term for that and it starts with "Socialis.....". Back to our regularly schedule elk discussions. Rant over.

I think that's accurate for the larger percentage of pot smokers (in my experience). There are some who it doesn't seem to affect this way (like my mountain climbing buddy). I smoked a bit in high school/college and all I wanted to do was eat and watch tv.

Will you par take

Postby slim9300 » 07 29, 2014 •  [Post 45]

I wish more bowhunters would par take! That would be awesome. I'm confident that I would see even more elk in the backcountry and more hunters eating Doritos in camp on the way out with my elk. Enjoy your weed bro. I actually think you have a legitimate reason to use THC for it's benefits, but you are FAR better off using an E-cig to get it.

Before you say, "This guy has no idea what he's talking about..." I smoked weed more times than I could count between 18-19 years old. There is no doubt in my mind that the substance is a negative thing for the average person (despite the fact that I think it should be legal). I have seen its longterm affects on many of my friends. Not to mention, my memory used to be AMAZING and people regularly used to say, 'you remember everything'. I literally have an embarrassing memory now at 29 years old, and it's gotten worse and worse over the last 5-6 years.

Smoking weed has detrimental affects on your brain. It's a proven fact. I have no idea if that's the THC or the toxins you are inhaling as a result of all the chemicals used to grow pot. Either way, unless you need the substance to function on a daily basis, why use it?

How about they don't get any money from the government and they are forced to work or go to mental hospitals? It worked prior to the welfare state. I bet the vast majority would work. Regardless, we wouldn't be encouraging uselessness.

Sir, you have very good insite... I have been told that vaporizing is a much better way or even through the eatable way of taking it in. Eatables really get me personally. I haven't learned my tolerance level yet using them so I am scared or paranoid about using them while hunting. I feel more in control with the smoking it personally.

Anytime H20. There is a distinct difference between those such as you ("I was involved in a head on collision when a one ton truck hit me head on while I was driving my brand new ATV down a mountain the day before opening day. It totalled my ATV and compressed several vertebrates in my spine. I don't like taking pain killers as they mess with my stomach and have major side effects. So I lived in pain for many years until I was suggested to look into the benefits of weed") and those who use the drug as a recreational stimulant (actually, I think it's classified as a depressant). I can not imagine what you've been through and how it has affected your life and your family, but, if a doctor prescribed medical protocol helps you in any way, that's a good news story! I was alluding to the recreational use of the drug in my post. It's not healthy, and by the accounts of numerous studies, is probably not the best thing in the world to partake in unless it's prescribed for a specific medical issue.

The problem I see with rec pot, or any pot is that it's the bums/homeless/panhandlers, that are always put in the spotlight when it comes to pot issues.
It's never the employed or business owner that causally partakes on their time off.
It still carries to much fabricated (mostly false) negativity with it.
Working folk enjoy their alcohol as much as the non-working ones.

Nope... Honda accord.. I know I know I know.... Totally not american made. But hell I have to afford paying for all my elk hunting gear. I need the best gas milage I can get.. When you out fit your son and girlfriend in Sitka gear, Tenzing Packs, Mathew Bows, Davis Tents, ATV's, ect ect ect this sport for the extremist of elk hunters with limited funds is a huge drain on my wallet. I have a vision of how this seasons going to go and I want it to be perfect so I have spare no expence and I decided to help my son fill a dream and Weed has helped me see the light on whats really important in life. I have owned several companies and been really selfish with my life and weed help me put things in perspective and get focused on whats really important. My family, friends, and being a better person. So I am doing the Super Ten with my son.

I personally believe that if this ridiculous trend continues, the majority of our society will be dependent on the government for well, just about everything. There's a term for that and it start with "Socialis.....". Back to our regularly schedule elk discussions. Rant over.

They're trying to avoid prison as well.
Not sure which is more costly, welfare or prison per person

How about they don't get any money from the government and they are forced to work or go to mental hospitals? It worked prior to the welfare state. I bet the vast majority would work. Regardless, we wouldn't be encouraging uselessness.

I'd love to see government welfare abolished.
I'd hate to see anyone 'forced' to do anything they don't want as long as they harm none.

Panhandling and sleeping on public streets/private storefronts is 'harming' people in my opinion.

It's never harmed me and I'm not even all that tuff.

Nope. I don't care if you do, as long as you're not hunting, driving or operating equipment of some kind. I firmly believe that pot ruins less lives than alcohol, and should be legal, but I think you are impaired after using it, whether you want to believe that or not. The only thing you are better at when you are stoned is giggling and eating ice cream.

So basically, if you're in your basement, smoke up and stay there no skin off my nose. I have a big problem with the idea of you running around the woods baked with a weapon. Please don't.

If I was baked in the woods don't worry I don't think I would be running anywhere. Is it ok if I walk with a weapon in my hand? In all seriousness I think you're right sir no one should be running with sharp sticks in their hands when they are baked hunting it's a good way to poke another hunting you don't see. So make sure if your high that you leave your arrows in your quiver until you are set up and ready to draw. I am sure with all the focus that you will have that you'll be sure that it's a real elk and not a decoy. You can tell this because decoys don't run in all snot dripping smelling of piss.
