Cabelas Pack?

Particularly the Instinct fast tracker pack, has some really nice features for the money, and mostly good reviews, with there warranty/service I may order one to try out.

I tried out the Instinct fast tracker pack in the summer and found some issues you may want to consider. The Pack for me was very squeaky and the material very loud when walking through brush. The lower hip section took allot of adjusting to keep packs small frame from rubbing your hips when you have over 30lbs and at over 50 it was unbearable out of the box.. I would guess the larger your midsection the worse it is. I also found the straps very uncomfortable for long duration's once you have 35+ pounds in the pack. The pack also hit my scale at just under 4 lbs out of the box with the bladder and everything, so a bit heavier than listed but perhaps the pack alone and without the side pocket attached does really weight 3 lbs 12 oz.
I did like the packs weight and found it pretty solid in the rain as it did not leak when exposed to a light to mid rain storm for 30 minutes. It seemed to dry rather quickly, had nice zippers, my spotting scope fit well in the pack's side pockets, and it did have tons of room . The Pack can haul a good load as I tested it with up to 80lbs for 2-3 miles at a time. For me If I was going to be around 30lbs or less, trekking in mostly open country not through brush, and not planning to haul out an ELK once down with the pack it may have worked out. I did return the pack.

Appreciate the reply, I thought it may be too light duty for packing meat, however I have a small midsection so maybe it would be better for me, I do not plan on hunting with it on my back so noise is not really an issue for me.

But I would plan on packing meat with it so I am not sure if I should try it, however I guess I can return it if it does not work out! How did the torso adjustment work?

The Torso adjustment really does not exist, it is nonadjustable compared to many packs. I had to slide the side padding all the way back and use the Velcro that attach the side pockets to push it back into place then it did OK for me.

Any other input on the pack? The more I look around I am leaning towards kuiu, not going to pony up the money for Kirafu or similar, If I am lucky I will use it on one hunt per year!

Buy the best pack you can afford, go to the DIT- gear- training section, and read all the posts on the "18-20 lbs really?" thread. A lot of good input on packs in that thread.

Does not sound like proper torso adjustment to me! I guess I can cross another off my list? Unless it just happens to fit me, no cabelas nearby so I would have to order and send it back!

Well free shipping and 50 bux off and I decided to try the pack, will load it up and test it when it shows and let everyone know how it works out!
