Another new member here

Postby IdahoKel » 07 21, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Hey guys, name's Kel. Just wanted to introduce myself. Been hunting the Idaho panhandle here for 4 years with no success yet. Last year I got into 'em but no shot. I've been watching Paul's DVDs and just ordered the playbook. Looking forward to being a part of and interacting with this great community, and hopefully bagging my 1st elk this year using ElkNut tactics!

Welcome Kel, glad to have you on board. There are a few of us here that hunt the alder jungles up in "the handle". Looking forward to seeing you around our forum camfire. RJ

Welcome, Kel. Glad you found us! We love to talk wapiti, so post away, you need 3 posts to access the PM service. Sounds like you are getting due for an elk on the ground, with 4 years of valuable experience behind you.

Welcome Kel. The Panhandle can be a tough place to hunt but it can also be a great place to hunt. It sounds like you have been putting in the time. Remember, E.P.O. "Effort Pays Off". Keep at it and the law of averages will tilt in your favor. And the more you learn the more they will tilt in your favor. Good luck to ya! I will be looking forward to your succes thread with pictures. Hopefully this fall!

Thanks everyone, and Olydog09 I agree, the terrain here is very unforgiving. But if you're willing to hunt hard and go in after 'em, I believe you can do very well here. Last year was the first year I really hunted hard, and also started to use some of ElkNut's tactics. It was the first time I heard the elk and actually knew what they were saying so I could respond properly, and that's how I was able to get really close to them for the first time. I've been scouting a lot and practicing my calls this summer, and I've got a good feeling about this season. I look forward to sharing the details of my hunt, and hearing everyone else's, too!
