well after last season i had hung it up, horrible horrible year! but headed out a couple weeks ago for a family day in the woods... seen deer, a few fresh rubs, the dead end road i park on was "re-closed" this year. (logged and opened it up last year so it was like I-5) this year it has been REALLY dug up at the beginning and would be very difficult for anything other than a quad to squeeze past and best of all........... 3 cows and a calf! it has me excited again! so headed out htis wknd. to move old stand location a little and set cameras. also seen a nice looking north facing bench on GE so i'm going to try to hike to it and check it out. and also a couple clear cuts that i missed last season on north facing slopes as well, going to try and hit those before to long and see what sign i see. oh yeah,,, this time of year elk hunting shows start hitting the T.V. so that doeasn't help much

Sounds like you're getting a head start, doing some great detective work, etc! It will pay off, the better you know the area, the more your odds go up IMHO.
