Magpies

[Rangerz]

Last year my buddy and I were Deer hunting. I was glassin and he was setup on a nice 4x4 with some Does. We were waiting for him to get in position for a shot. I was watching these deer and noticed a Magpie landing on one of the Does and pecking her. Eventually she couldn't take it anymore and ran off taking the Buck with her.

Are Magpies looking for ticks?

Anybody ever seen this with Elk?

Yes sir, I've seen them on the backs of deer, elk, horses, cattle, etc. I assume they're eating any insects on them they can find!

I havent seen it with elk. But some magpies just like being a pest, Ive seen them dance around resting dogs,
If you spend a lot of time in the woods you might find one that likes to follow you continually calling out alerting everything to his position a lot like a Canada Jay at times . Ive seen them just bump around livestock picking up bugs , but more I think sometimes its just something to do and if they want the bugs thats just bonus
