What justifies the price difference in the 10x42 tactical and the 10x42 night hunter XP?

Is the night hunter XP really 600 bucks better?

In my humble opinion, you get what you pat for in optics. That being said, Vortex destroys that theory. With all Euro optics, the higher the price the higher the quality of the glass they use. I've run several different optics over the years, each one with a bigger price tag than the last, each optic was an improvement on the previous. About 10 years ago I hit a super Trifecta in Daytona Beach at the dog track, while there for the 500. I immediately went to Bass Pro in Orlando and purchased Swarovski binos, and have never regretted it. The ultra high price tag that Swarovski has, in my opinion, in todays optics is now not worth the difference when compared to 1. the quality now found in higher end Voretex optics, and 2. the price for them. I recommend them to friends, customers ( I am semi- retired, and I work part-time in a sporting goods store in archery, and gun section), and neither a customer , nor a friend has been disappointed in the optic they have purchased, with the Vortex name. I think I know someone on this site that is a dealer(GRIN).Remember, $ = better glass, try to buy their best, or the best you can afford. Steiner makes a good optic, I have had 2 pairs, but in todays optic market, there is only 1 brand I recommend.

Note: This doesn't mean other brans don't produce good optics, this is just my opinion. I hope this helps you.

Vortex is great! But as far as I know they don't have anything like steiners mil discount. Bushnell also has one but there mil discount is basically the price on amazon. Steiners is 35-50% (model dependent) cheaper than anywhere else on the web. Zeiss does 25% cheaper than any other place you can find their stuff.

I agree with the vortex statement... I personally own two ziess optics and one Burris fullfielde2.. And I like them all.. But I do notice a difference in clarity in the ziess.. I agree with you get what you pay for, and it's rarely ever regretted spending that extra money the first time then buying multiple optics.. Also I never knew Steiner Gave such big mil discounts? Is that thru their website? And how are the optics or y'all that own one? I've never owned one or looked thru one but have heard they are very good..
