Broadhead choices

What is everyone's choice of Broadhead? I read that a lot of outfitters like 2 blade heads for more penetration. What do you guys use and feel work best? And what would you consider for a compound vs a longbow or recurve?

I love 2 blade stingers, great fliers, exceptional penetration, simple, easy to sharpen, lifetime guarentee. I shoot compound, but learned from a bunch of traditional guys that push two blade for sure with traditional for extra penetration.
Just watched Primos's last elk movie, and guy hit a bull behind the shoulder and gets maybe 10-12 inches of penatration. Killed the bull, but man I would be nervous shootin whatever he used, if one rib can stop an arrow like that- no thanks.

That's because they shoot Rage broadheads. Mechanical broadheads IMHO are not the proper choice for big game like elk. Yes I know that they can penetrate and they fly much better then fixed blade heads but as you have seen. If a mechanical hits bone it can lose a lot of its penitration abilities.

As far as broadheads go it's best to have a SHARP fixed blade period... As far as two blades vs three or four really comes down to personal preference and what ever you feel will be most accurate for your style of shooting.

I'm hoping my Slick Trick Standards do the trick for me this year. I've read good things and they fly great for me, so that's what I'm going with.

Keep in mind this is just my broadhead choice, and is not advice!! I'm just a guy from MN who has only seen a handful of wild elk in his life and has yet to shoot one.

I just switched to Viper tricks, the fly great, haven't hunted with them as of yet.

100 gr. Thunderhead XP's - been using them forever..... have never had too broadhead tune them.... stick them on and they fly like my field points out too 80 yards....

RazorTricks for me. Coc head, fly great and blow thru elk like they aren't even there. Quick clean kills!

Thunderhead 100 gr., Been using them for 20 years, pass thru on deer, bear and my one 4 X4. Never lost a blade and always tuned great.

I have used nitron 100 grain for quite awhile and even bought extras when I would see them on closeout or if I received gift cards from customers.3 blade fixed and they fly great.

I have killed Elk with Stingers 2 blade the 2 blade with the kicker blades and slick tricks and years ago a Mechanical broad-head. Slick Tricks I like the best and the price not bad either.

Staying with muzzy 3 blade. They fly great with my setup and I have killed several elk and deer with them.

Shuttle T Lock 100's last 5 years
Eskimo 2 blade with bleeder blades in the 60's early 70's
Savora 3 blade in late 70's to mid 80's
Rocky 125gr 3 blade late 80's
Thunderhead 125's, thru 90's to mid 2000.
G-5 Strikers mid 2000
Now I really feel old

Undecided. Either VPA 3 Blade non-vented, or Shuttle-T Black Ops. Both 125gr.

Will shoot and test both soon.

I also just switched to Slick Tricks from Shuttle T's. I would recommend Shuttle T's to anyone as I had a lot of great luck with them I would just fight them every single year! Just never got them to fly great FOR ME but they were such a great head I would fight it. Finally got tired of it and switched to slick tricks. Accuracy really is everything and these heads shoot awesome.

After months of research, I've decided to go with the Helix 125gr. broadhead. I'm waiting for them to come in so I can start practicing and fine tuning, if necessary.

I've never had problems getting the Shuttle T's to fly well. They fly like darts. One of the reasons I switched to them was because they flew like my field points and spun true. I also index all blades to vanes. Not really necessary, but just something I have been doing for years.
Paper tuning the bow 1st with field points also helped.
Another thing I like about them is do to there blade design the entry hole is bigger than the actual broad head.

Found this bull and pulled the arrow out. It had a 3 blade Rage that never opened. Was dead about 6 days.
