Can/does a peep move?

So I've been shooting pretty well of late and then one night this past week I go out and starting to consistently shoot about 8-9 inches low on each pin. About the only thing I can figure is maybe my peep slid down a touch, causing me to ultimately aim lower. I've recently started shooting a compound again after using traditional gear for years so I'm not the most savvy on tuning a compound. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is your peep served in above & below it? If so I've never seen one slide around before but I guess anything is a possibility? Check your rest & make sure that it isn't the problem, if it slips down a touch you can have the same low shot issue? Too, if your string is old & is stretching bad fast or if a few strands have broke you can have similar results with low shots?

When I set up my peep, I draw and anchor with my eyes closed then I open them and the peep should be in place right there. If my peep moves (string stretch, it gets bumped, etc), just repeat this process to make sure your peep is in the right place.

I've also seen d-loops that weren't installed correctly move on the serving too

Also, once you know your peep is in the correct position, measure the distance to the center of the peep, and write this down, and keep it somewhere you can find it. Your bowcase, under the foam in your quiver, etc. Then if you experience accuracy issues you can measure again and either correct the problem, or rule it out.

It can but not common, especially if it is tied in correctly. How are you anchoring? May have changed your anchor slightly.

With my new bow the same thing happened to me. Could not figure it out I thought I check everything, but then I noticed my detachable quiver was wedge agent my drop-a-way rest, moved my quiver all good again.

if the peep is tied in right..i bet the rest has a better chance of moving. 9" low at 20 yards is a lot of movement.

Thanks to all who has chimed in. I've decided to start at the beginning-- and get a new string. The peep was served in above and below the peep so I'll have that done again as suggested here. I also plan to get a kisser button. I've never used one but it sounds like it will help keep my anchor point consistent. I don't think it is a problem so it will probably just be for peace of mind. Last year I busted a pin on my sight so I may get a new sight while I'm at it. Again, thanks to all. It is greatly appreciated.

I am a low time shooter, so take this for what it is worth.

I put a kisser on and love it, however I have had the kisser slide a number of times, usually right before it departs the string. A sliding kisser really messed with my anchor point and would introduce some significant vertical errors.

In addition to serving in my peep, I also take a permanent marker and put a mark just below and above the peep on the string. With the two marks you can see rather quickly if the peep.

Mark, you did not say how far you were shooting. If you were shooting 50 or 60 yards, I would give is a day and check to see if the problem persisted. The peep can move if it gets hung up on something and you pull against it. As mentioned above it could also be your rest. If those are fine check the front sight. I have had a bow where the cams came out of time. The arrows shot low, so I raised the peep, then the bow just kept shooting lower and lower. I would check to see if cam is slipping. PSE had a problem on some of its bows, and had to redesign for shorter draw lengths. My son and I had the same problem and he shoots 28 inch draw and I shoot 27 inch draw length. That is not real short, but it was short enough. To their credit, as soon as PSE discovered the problem, they took care of it.

This is my peep site solution. Loc-A-Peep. Never moves because it is lockable... clamps on to the string. It might weigh a few grains more but well worth it I think. Not much more because it requires no serving. I also use the rubber tubing to keep it from spinning.... which is the worst right. But I use a specific brand.... I'll look up in the next few days, it NEVER dry rots and NEVER slips off the peg. I've used this system for years with zero problems or failures.
