3rd rifle gear

I am a September Bowhunter but my friend is going out for 3rd rifle in Colorado. I have not been out there in October. What gear would you recommend for clothing and boots for that time of year? Thank you!

my friends went last year. they said the snow was amazing. they got their butts kicked and found a nearby hotel room.

Depends on where you're going. Me personally, I'd plan for every type of weather. Base layers, warm socks, good boots (insulated if your feet get cold easy), gaiters, heavy jacket if you plan to sit, rain gear and gloves. No cotton and don't forget the blaze orange. Tire chains might be a good idea.

Depends on elevation and weather. I'd want an insulated and an uninsulated pair of boots, 2 weights of wool socks. Chance of snow most years in early Nov is better than 50% above 8000', and goes up as elev increases. 2 weights of baselayers. Gaiters, snowshoes and poles would be handy. Expect snow, not rain. Temps from 0-40, colder up high. Water-and-wind resistant pants and shell. I like a blaze ballcap w fleece earband and blaze stocking cap that goes over cap and covers ears, hood on shell jacket is good too. Fleece vest. Fleece neck gaiter! Waterproof insulated gloves w thin liners. Pack to carry layers shed as day warms from frickin' frosty while waiting for sunrise, to pretty pleasant in the sun @ midday. More water than you think you need, more calories as well. Wool outer layers are as good as fleece, maybe better in snow. A stove or heat source while sleeping is vital. Sun screen, snow is as reflective as water. A plastic sled can drag quarters, but packing them is usually easier in the long run. Tire chains, tow straps, survival gear to build fire, space blanket. Locator beacon could save your life. Access to weather forecasts is vital. Snow helps in tracking and gamefinding, can push game to lower elev where it is easier to hunt.
