I have the Sol. No complaints. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their models.

i have the cheapo flash. it works nice.

but you know what? i've been shopping the Primus ETA spyder. i'm not a fan of the neoprene on the jetboils. i've tried to cook with one, and ended up having to wash the pot in a stream. that neoprene was damp, in my pack for a surprisingly long time. my neoprene has a crispy spot that got too warm, and is starting to sag. i eat mostly backpack food. so i boil water, but i also carry a small alum pot to heat up and "cook" instant mash potatoes and things. i think the ETA pot is a lot better, especially if i want to dunk the pot in water to wash it. eliminating the alum pot from my gear list would be awesome.

and i dont know how many times i have tipped over my jetboil. cooking in the rain, huddled in my tent is a dangerous move for me. i feel like a bull in a china shop

we are so lucky now. there are some amazing stoves out there. confusing almost.

I have the flash for when it's just me. When I hunt with a buddy i bring the 1.5 L cooking pot and he brings his flash. Does everything we would ever need.

I ran an MSR Pocket Rocket for years with an Optimus aluminum pot, that thing was flat out affordable and worked every time. But as Phantom16 can atest to I'm a crazy gear nut and bad influence in that arena. This year I'll be running the Jetboil Sol, couldn't pass up on the $89 REI Black Friday price. Only time will tell if it was a good move.

The Sol Ti has had a number of failure reports and with the minimal weight savings I would look at any of the models below the ti. The Flash is a great overall value considering what you get but with my limited time behind the Sol I do like it so far. Back to the reported failures, most seem to be from people trying to melt snow, I think if you stay away from trying to melt 100% or even 50% snow the Jetboil should last a long time. The pot easily slides out of the neoprene cover so you can clean the pot and not soak the cover, I've been known to add a few oz of water after my oatmeal to not only cool the pot quicker but give it a quick internal wash, just drink the wash water after and store. Oatmeal residue will not kill a guy and if needed you can clean it before the next use.

Overall we are lucky with all gear options out there, too many freakin good options and they only keep growing. I think my next stove will be a multi-fuel variant.

Get a Sea To Summit X bowl if you don't want to have to clean the pot on your Jetboil. Collapses flat, weighs 2.8oz and easy to clean.

I'm very happy with my Optimus crux stove and pot. I've only used it once at 6k and was shocked how fast it boiled water. I'll be testing it out at 9k next week.
