Im new and love the site. Been out to Colo 4 or 5 times chasing elk, both with bow and rifle. Going to be out there early sept with the stick and string this year, and Im PUMPED. IM taking a buddy who has never been out west hunting. Ive lost 25 pounds since mid March, hitting the gym and hiking with my pack and couldnt be more excited. Thanks to the 'pros' on this site for all the valuable information.

I have been looking over this site for a while and have recently joined. I have been to northwest Montana on my only elk hunt. Had a bull at 10 yards when he let out a bugle but I could not see him. That left an impression to say the least. Anyway, I am going to Idaho this year with a friend and can't wait. I have dropped 40 pounds working out while watching all the Elknut videos and eating right. 80 days and counting!

We get taken in on the 6th and out on the 13th fo Sept. .......cant wait. Ive been going through the playbook, practicing some calling..need to practice more. Shooting my new bow lots. This will be the earliest Ive been in the elk woods, and so far, I like what Ive been reading about early season elk hunting.

I'll be in colorado.... There are few things more beautiful that those mountains in the early fall......I'll probably be a little too early for the golden quakies, but still such a great place.

Ahh, 6th through 13th, some Cold Calling for the 1st few days then hopefully things start ramping it up with the cows & bulls! Of course there's always water sources & trails as well where an ambush could come into play! Good Luck!

My name is Ron and I'm from Idaho. I'm a dedicated deer hunter until I see a Bull or hear a Bugle, then all I can focus on is Elk. My goal for this season is to do my first archery Elk hunt with a self bow. I have had good success with the Oct.-Nov. rifle hunts, which is more of a spot and stalk game. Calling and hunting during the rut will be a new frontier for me. Also, I got lucky and drew a goat tag this season so that is priority as far as scouting time this season. I have spent a lot of time scouting in past seasons and know of about half a dozen areas that usually hold Elk though, so I can probably get away with minimal scouting. I'm more focused on proficiency with the bow at this point.

I've been lurking around here for a month or so. Hunt NM and CO. This is my first year with sticks. Been rifles and muzzle up to this point. Guess we'll see how this new addiction turns out.

I have been lurking in the shadows of this site for about a month now and finally decided it was time to join. From what I have seen, the amount of knowledge here,and willingness to share it, is incredible. This site is far and away better than any other I have seen. I am a lifetime resident of CO and have been elk hunting since I was old enough to. Most of my elk hunting, and all of my success, has been done with a rifle. The last 4 years I have put the rifle away and started hunting with a muzzleloader,because as you guys know, there is nothing like being in the elk woods in the middle of September!. I know most of you guys are bow hunters, please don't hold using a muzzleloader against me. I look forward to learning and hopefully contributing as much as I can.
