What are you adding?

I'm not talking about replacing old gear, I am asking, what, if anything are you adding to your pack, bow, clothes, that you haven't had in the past, that you wish you would of, or is there a cool new toy that'll be accompanying you into the backcountry?
For me, I am going to take gaiters this year, haven't decided which ones, but I am leaning toward OR Crocs, they have great reviews, and Aaron from over on Rokslide, who puts about as much gear through hell as more than almost anybody I've heard of, says they're great.

adding?

a footprint for my tent. i'm tired of beating up the floor. i just bought a UL1 and want to make it last. i can use just the fly and footprint with the poles for a 1lb fair weather shelter.

i also just got a Un-Bottle to hang inside my packs. it's an insulated camelback bladder. i got weary of wrestling with a regular bladder, trying to use some random pocket. -

I've picked up a handfull of goodies this spring that will accompany me on my hunts this fall but one of the most notable is my new portable butt (EMG Slip System w/camo and cow butt slips). I'm anxious to throw this thing into the mix on some hunts this fall. Can be used as a portable/instant ground blind, and, cow arse decoy not to mention a pretty stout walking stick, overhead cover, wolf fighting sword (well, maybe not the last one).

Since I'll be backpack hunting this year for the first time instead of truck camping my list has been ridiculous considering I haven't backpacked since I was a kid in boy scouts. Here are some things that I picked up that I really like.

HPG Mountain Serape. I'm coupling this with a Kifaru Paratarp in case I decide to bivy overnight. I've used the Serape in the woods twice now and I love it. It's the "hunters snuggy".
Go Lite SL-5 with Kifaru medium stove and custom nest.
2013 Elite Answer
Big Agnes Q-core insulated air pad. It's the regular width but for the price I paid used, beggars can't be choosers. Temps were in the 40's last week and I roasted sleeping on that pad.

Still need to find a pair of boots for this season.

Im adding a weed sprayer shower,
debating about a decoy,
Im planning on taking my mt bike along on the hunt
maybe a bigger tent
Some new panels on my box blind with bug screen
while some may laugh I did buy an ozone generator to push out air from the box blind

I used a piece of pool cove below my tent floor, this year Im taking a couple pieces of carpet

all right all right.... give me a couple minutes to get the pics up.
edit: the pics I took last night to show my buddy are pretty crappy. I will take some more of it out in the driveway. it did work, but I used isopropyl instead of methyl alcohol. told the guy at napa I needed a bottle of heet. I forgot there are two different kinds. so it burned orange and sooty. I am going to get some denatured alcohol instead today after I get one of our fire trucks dropped off to get repaired. I didn't get too picky about where I put the jets and they ended up too low. but I have a couple more bottles to make a couple more....

big thanks to the wife! as she is sitting next to me.....
the sooted up one on the right, I used the wrong fuel..... when I got the right fuel I could boil 2 cups of 72 degree tap water in 12 minutes. still have to play with it more. you cant see the flame in the daylight, so I will play some tonight.

I never timed the boil with my buddies white gas single burner stove. we were also cooking for three and were boiling more water. I also don't have the stove here to weigh it. but from what I remember, the weight and size is a lot more. I plan getting a 4 cup coffee can and put everything, stove, fuel, wind shield, lighters inside. we will each bring our own stove and pot and cook our own meals. he is planning on bringing the super expensive mtn house meals. I cant stomach the price and plan on spicing up the knorr sides with foil packaged chicken and finding some dehydrated vegetables to add more filler....

Do yourself a favor and test the boil time before your trip. Hate to find out it takes too long on the side of a mountain. Let us know

hear you loud and clear. out of the 3 stoves I built. I only like 1. one runs hot but only lasts 7 mins on 1.5 oz, still didn't boil the 2 cups of water. one ran a little less hot and ran 10 mins on the same fuel, still didn't boil water. ol trusty ran 14 mins on the same fuel but still took 12 mins to boil water. which is still too long compared to what I have seen on youtube. I know that altitude will change boil times, but also how much water is needed. from the last two years experience, less water is needed.

I hated packing the fuel. A good fluid tight bottle is a must. The invisible fire is spooky. I made a beer can stove and took it on a 50 miler backpack trip. We had jet boils as well. I ended up accidentally crushing the can. I bought a white box stove and the thing is awesome. Very robust.

I am probably going to buy the rucus stove. it looks to be a lot sturdier then the beer bottle stoves like mine. it stood up to his 200 pound self proclaimed fat ass standing on it. and it comes with a vargo fuel bottle that didn't leak when he squeezed the piss out of it. it was fun to build...

Eye drops, boonie hat, and a homemade spotting scope adapter for my phone will be going along with me this year. Also I picked up a camstrap by Solvid to try and get some extra footage of the hunt.
