Bonnie hat

Do any of you guys wear a Bonnie style hat? Seems like they would work very well keep the Sun of your face and ears/neck, what are some good ones?

I wear a Boonie No Bonnie
Saw it at Cabelas in Mitchell SD on clearance for $5.00 the camo was some sort of sage brush that matched the areas I hunt. I switched out the draw string keeper to a leather keep so the hat stays on in the wind.

I have one that is a fishing hat so it is really lightweight and has a mesh ring around it to allow air flow. Nice perk when sweating walking up a steep mtns

i rock a boonie a lot. no good in really cold weather, but in warm and/or rainy weather i love it. good 3 season hat.

I wear a plain woodland camo boonie. Thinking of buying a water proof one for this year. Never had a problem with it interfering with my string.

I wear a mil spec boonie. I have for many years. Keeps the sun off your neck. Rain from running down your neck.

The first year out west the back of my neck and ears got sunburnt. The next year I was wearing a asat boonie hat and no sunburn issues. The brim can also be worn up or down. Also the brim keeps eyeglass reflections to a minimum and to keep the sun out of your eyes. No shooting problems with it. Shop around, they come in practically any camo pattern you want.

I use a crushable felt hat. (More or less like a fred bear hat) I love it. It keeps the sun off but it is also waterproof. I cannot stand a hood on a rain jacket.

I often wear an old boonie hat I purchased from Cabelas about 20 years ago. I also wear baseball caps and camo motor cycle head rags. I am not sure of just what they are called.

For me it's either a lightweight baseball cap or when things get cold.. the Stormy Kromer. A lot of boonie hats are heavy cotton which soaks up sweat. Pass on that. Sitka makes some really nice hats.

If you're getting sunburned you need to find some cover... you'll be closer to elk then. Cover is why elk never get sunburn.

I like my canvas bonnie hat. It stays in my day pack so I have it whenever I'm out hiking. I've waterproofed it with Otter Wax, while it gives it a slight oiled canvas feel and look to it the waterproofing isn't perfect. Works for me though.
I do with I could find someone that made a bonnie hat in a nice blaze camo pattern like Mossy Oak Blaze.

Most folks cannot grow a good mullet. I have seen a few poor attempts. Although I was in New Jersey last week on business and seen a guy sporting a serious mullet.

Me I will just stick with the boonie hat. You guys feel free to grow the mullet.

Well if it's hot out and your boonies is soaking up sweat just dunk in the nearest creek and ring it out. Nice n cool on your dome.

Attached is a picture of Swede "rockin' the do rag", and trust me I was rockin. I had hunted 28 straight days when I finally got this small herd bull on the next to the last day of the season. I used this picture as there is a similar, or the same one of the bull and me on page 78 of the tree stand book. I don't think the bull was as pleased as I was at that moment. Just a guess though.
