signed up for a tri

Postby zpd307 » 05 30, 2014 •  [Post 1]

signed up for my 4th annual tri that will be on july 27th in waseca. the past three years I have done the sprint, which is entry level. that is a 1/4 mile swim, 13 mile bike ride and finished off with a 4.4 mile run. my goal is to do and finish an iron man triathlon when I turn 40. I have two more years..... so this year I upped the anty and signed up for the 1/3 iron man tri. that is a 1 mile swim, 34 mile bike and a 9 mile run. I have the run down....... ;) so I need to get my butt back on my bike and get some swimming in now that the ice is finally gone.... my marathon soreness is almost completely gone

Congrats brother. I used to Tri back in the day. Raced several times a year and finally did my Ironman in '06. Great exercise and another great group of people to hang out with. Best of luck to you.

I am starting to train again for triathlons. Hoping to get an Olympic distance race in this season. Then back to the half ironman. I did my last half iron back in 03. Depending on how things go might step up for a full on ironman.

Good luck to you in your quest. Train smart and you should be fine.

Good for you, that is great. I am toying with the idea, but long way off. Time to train is the killer for me. Have a couple friends that have done it, and man they put the hours in. Just not enough hours in a day with little ones and a job for me to get even the marathon level training in. Good Luck!

I am also worried about being able to commit that much training time for the ironman. I am using this 1/3 ironman race to hopefully get me to realize how necessary it is... I all ready know it, but shoes on the ground/pedals is the best motivator...

Coworker signed up for Lake Stevens Olympic distance this year. She was complaining about only having one day off of training till august, then she tore three ligaments in her ankle running. Sad, but she still might do it. Heck she ran a half marathon 10 after so we're betting she sticks with it.
