moose or elk rubs?

So I've been scouting an area that has both moose and elk activity and found some rubs. Got me wondering if there's any way to tell the difference between a moose rub and an elk rub. I've noticed where I live in wa the moose always seem to rub the pines and tamaracks. Found rubs on some deciduous trees today in idaho. Anybody think there is a way to tell the difference?

Look on the ground you may be able to see footprints.
Moose are much taller and bigger by 400-800 lbs ( shiras) often the rubbed tree will be bigger and the work higher on the tree
The rubs Ive checked out moose tracks were the obvious clue. only the few Ive seen moose don't seem to spike the tree , or leave gouges left by horns
Also the moose rubes Ive seen were in low swampy ground where the moose beat up a growth of willows or a clump of brush
Ill pay more attention next fall
