New tent choices

I am looking for a back pack tent and stove combo for co elk archery season. Trying to decide between seeks outside LBO and BCS2 and 6 man tipi. Stove choices are also considered. Tigoat and kifaru and seek out side. All opinions welcome. Need space for 2 men stove and gear.

I just got a Seek Outside six man tent and large stove. I am impressed. The six man will have plenty of room for two or three plus gear and stove.

One thing I really like is the tabs sewn in about a foot from the top. I will string para cord through these and have a clothes line at the top of the tent. With the stove going it should be nice and warm, great place to dry wet clothes.

I set the tent up to seam seal it and had it inside out. ( a mistake) Lucky though, It made it very easy to seal. I did what was inside top ( which was the outside) first. Then the outside bottom ( which was the inside) next. I let that dry and turned it right. Sealed the top inside and bottom outside. Worked great, might be something to remember.

Good to hear. Do you backpack in with the 6 man and stove? That is what I will be doing and might want the lighter options.

That is what I am planning to do. Last year I drove and hiked every morning. I want to pack in so i have more hunting and sleeping time, this year.

Kifaru is getting ready to launch some new shelters in the next month or so. Just a heads up ! New designs, material, and said to be lower prices.

What temperatures do you expect ? For two people do you want stand up height ? I tend to favor the LBO, BCS or 6 man. It depends if your priority is weight or living comfort.

Temps from Colorado summer to snow in late season bow CO. Maybe a rifle hunt. Most use CO bow season for 2 men hike in camp 5 miles. Would like light and be able to stand up in. Light is a must, but will drop for a spike camp after the hike in.

I'll be using a GoLite Shangrila-5 w/ a Kifaru medium stove. I've only set it up in my back yard so far since I've had the jack installed. I did a practice burn that night and it's toasty warm inside the tent. Bearpaw designs made the nest and installed the jack. My wife and I can sleep in the nest and there's room for a third plus gear. I'm going to sell this nest and have him build me one with silnylon sides in case of wind blown rain due to the SL-5 being tough to pitch to the ground. The Kifaru stove is very nice, well built, but heavy. If I were to get a bigger stove, it would be titanium to cut weight. Do your research on the stoves. People have complained about the Ti stoves warping when using while it rains.

For the SL-5, I would not go bigger than a medium size stove. Temps were in the low 40's when I tried it out that night and my wife and I were able to put our lawn chairs in the outside of the doorway and we could feel the heat. I was hot inside the tent with the door zipped up wearing jeans, short sleeve shirt and a sweatshirt. So, unless a "Polar Vortex" comes down late season, my medium stove should be just fine. Plan on bringing a good saw or hatchet because you're going to need it. These little stoves eat wood faster than a fat kid with a tray of cupcakes.

If I had to get another one, I'd probably go titanium to save on the weight. I happened to get mine for a smoking deal and couldn't pass it up so I'm happy with it. Also, if you're packing in with a hunting buddy, you guy's can split the load. My medium stove weighs 5lbs,6oz where as the titanium weighs 1lb, 15ozs.

I'd take a hard look at the Nemo Pentalite if you can find one as well. I've heard good things about them on other sites. The only reason I have the SL-5 is because I bought it used off of Craigslist. REI had the Nemo's on clearance for $200 a few months ago which is a smoking deal since Go-Lite raised their prices.

Just an FYI, I'm 6'1" and I cannot fully stand up inside my tent. But I can walk in it slightly crouched.

Here's a pic of everything in its storage case. The black rectangular case is the stove. I can easily fit the nest in with the tent but left it separate.
