Where to go?

Never elk hunted looking for places to go for modern Elk. Never shot one and would love to. Even a cow works. I am in oak harbor. If anyone has any ideas or would like to take me out please let me know always down to learn and put in the foot work to make it happen

Irish: I am not sure where you are. Is it Oak Harbor Washington on Whidbey Island? Are you interested in bow or rifle or ML hunting? If you are a Washington resident, there are probably folks here that can at least point you in the right direction. You can also get a lot of good hunting tips here if you continue to hang out around the camp fire.

Great advice above, in addition:
1. Some top draw bull elk units are OTC cow elk units and can be enjoyable as you are around bulls, can learn a unit and take a cow elk.
2. If you are going this year, then OTC is the way you need to go given the draw deadlines have passed. Study the OTC states units, %kills, %private property, %national Forrest, elk population, study the units and then pick one that stands out and learn all you can about it.
3.Call the wildlife biologist and chat with them some about the units you are considering. Study maps ahead of time and ask them about areas you are considering and if there are elk in the area. Be honest with them about your abilities and type if hunt you are considering.

well i am going to put in for a bull draw... see what happens... i am on whidbey island... i just have no idea what to do or where to go... So i really don;t even have a starting point. i usually hunt deer and duck... so... ELK is a new thing for me completly
