"X" Marks the Spot - #2

Day 8 of your 10 day SW Montana hunt. After a very nice spot and stalk effort, you find yourself at full draw 32 yards from the closest bull. Your position is at the edge of this clearing with good cover/concealment to your sides and behind you (at red X). It's clear sailing for your broadhead from here to the critter. Wind is gently blowing from left to right.

Are you shooting? If so, put an "X" on the spot your arrow is heading.

Reminder that if you save the picture to your desktop and open in MS Paint, you'll be able to place a spot, X, or whatever on the critter before you save it back to a jpg and add the marked up pic with your post.

I would wait for them to separate then aim at the X.

I am letting one fly right now, no need to wait.
I will aim about 4 left and 4 low of mr olydog pic. It is very rare for me to ever get a pass thru on an elk.

As easeup mentions I would aim 3" lower & straight up the leg from the red X Oly shows, his shot is getting very close to the scapula/shoulder blade area. If the bull were to flinch in the downward motion as they are very well noted for you could catch him square in the plate, not good, that plate has denied many an arrow! (grin)

It is no good. I don't like the bull staring right at me. On the other hand, I guess if he leaps out of the way I would get a good consolation prize. I just need to hold a little high.

I just watched Nate Simmons (Western Hunter) make a complete pass through shot on a big bull at 50 yds. The odds of a complete pass through go up dramatically at 32 yds. I'll hold and wait.

Lol I agree. My RazorTricks won't discriminate whether there are 1 or 2 bulls in the kill zone

I'm waiting... Doesn't matter how rare or frequently we get pass throughs on elk. Even if you aim low and left of the X on Olydog's pic, a slight pull to the right or a gust of that left to right wind catches your bow as you release, then the arrow only has to slip through two sets of ribs and now you've got two blood trails.

With two blade I have to wait, I blow through everything.
Seems like several of you want to push closer to the bone than olydogs mark, I tend to give it a few inches not sure what the reason to ride the edge?
Mentioned this on the jumping string thread, but I think our ten rings at 3D shoots are clouding our judgement and may cost us animals one day. Thoughts?
