Survival Pouch Contents

What do you carry in your survival pouch. I take a compass, plb, 55 gal trash bag, paracord, three different fire starting methods and a signal mirror.

Nothing fancy, but here's what I consider important items whenever I enter the backcountry.....

- Satellite communicator (Delorem Inreach for Android)
- Multiple fire starting material. I had a bad episode in the backcountry of Western WA once, now I'm prepared to start a fire anywhere
- emergency bivy sack (a REAL one, not the mylar stuff)
- Wyoming Saw goes everywhere with me. But I did just pick up a lightweight hatchet that I am going to try out.
- GPS & compass
- cord
- Pistol
- Headlamp
- Chapstick
- Ibuprofen
- Packable rain coat
- pocket knife

And I probably should put together some sort of first aid kit.

What do you mean by survival pouch? Do you mean you add this to a daypack or when bivy hunting or is that all you take when hunting period? Please be more specific, thanks.

4x4 gauze

tweeze, burn spray
individual cleansing and gel pads

Para cord,
mason line
40 gallon plastic bag,12 hour candle,
4 different fire stating methods
fleece, gloves hat and gator

I have a small pouch that stays on my belt. When I take off my pack it is there. I have struggled at times to find my pack after putting it down camo works. That might be another question ,how do you mark your pack when you take it off to stalk, or do you leave it on?

I switch between packs enough that I started putting all my 'emergency gear' (I like to call it backcountry essentials) in a separate bag. I bought one of those light weight storage bags at REI, and it keeps everything bundled together nicely. Then I just toss it in whatever pack I'm using. With that said, I hope that my new pack is versatile enough that I don't have to switch anymore.

My pack is my survival pouch. I can't have anything on my belt when I'm wearing a pack.

One item I think everyone should have that is small light cheap and priceless is a good metal referee whistle. The sound is piercing and carries way further than your voice. Also if you were ever really in a jam how long or often can you possibly yell at the top of your lungs for help. You can blow that whistle for days though and there's no mistaking it for the wind or the groaning sound of 2 trees rubbing together in the wind.

I will be adding one of these to mine. Thanks Indian Summer! I don't carry anything different than what everyone has posted so far. My Leatherman goes everywhere. I guess you could call that a survivor tool.

I pretty much carry what everyone else is carrying but this I past year I added another pill bottle with my medication i take every day and keep atleast 5 days worth in it with cotton balls on top to keep iy from making noise
