Diet Failures- What's your #1 weakness?

Postby Garrett Drach » 03 26, 2014 •  [Post 1]

For those of you on diets, or really watching what you eat, what's the #1 item that you know you shouldn't consume, but you just can't help yourself?

For me, its without question Oreo's!

PIZZA! and yeah beer never helps that night or the next mornings workouts. So, to sum it all up, avoid Mckenzie River Restaurants.

I just started a new job and every day the whole office gets phily cheese steaks or breakfast burritos or something else eating out. My self control has been tested and failed!

Jack n coke and food in general. I eat like a horse and don't gain or lose any weight. But I know all the crap I put in my body slows me down and will only lead to problems later.

It would be pizza for me. It is so bad for me but tastes so good. I cheat a lot less often than I used to. Gotta live a little I guess.

The only diet failure for me is not BURNING enough calories to offset what I eat. Granted, at 5'11" and 162# I'm not overweight but I miss those days when I burned as many calories from chewing my food as what I was consuming.

Look at Michael Phelps' diet, 12000 calories a day when he's training. It's all about burning more calories...not necessarily what you're eating.

I hear yah. I'm 5'11" 248 lbs. will be 220 lbs by sept. 210 would be skin and bones. Long winters, working 60 hrs a week, and good grub, without activity kicks my butt.

Don't get me wrong, my empty calories come from beer. I love it but have cut WAY back. It's also a conscious effort for me to not eat as much during periods of less activities. When I injured my knee I wasn't running or biking as much. I had to make sure to eat less. Most people don't have that will power.

I cook good food and eat too much!
I use to burn a lot more calories., Marriage and kids slowed me down. When I was single missing one or two big meals a week added up.
Getting young kids to bed then not doing anything really slowed up the calorie buring.
Now with daylight til 8:00 Ill start dropping weight and if I dont produce many good melons in the garden Ill drop 20lb by September
I was at my top weight Three weeks ago, 262#

I often eat too much at meal time. Restaurants are a terrible place for anyone on a diet. Their portions are generally too large, but I eat everything. I will snack sometimes on dried fruit. I do not know if the fruit is a problem or not. I need to get back to elk camp. I always lose weight on a long hunt.

lefty, I know how you feel.... I hit my low last winter at 213. watched my portion size and ate better foods. with exercise I got down to 185. I could actually bend over to tie my shoes. :) I have made a point to do all sorts of exercise, but nothing terribly formal or intense. not eating terribly healthy, just watching portion size a little better and I am at 194 as of this morning. first winter in 5/6 years that I didn't get over 200! btw I am 6 foot.

ice cream and pizza... beer and bourbon dont count... dont diet its a up and down waste of time just eat healthy 80% of the time and live life the rest...high lean protein (1gm of protein per pound of body weight) low fat low carbs with plenty of fruits and vegetables, small frequent meals throughout the day, mix all that up with regular exercise and all will be fine

When I met my wife I had been in on the U of Minnesota Heart healthy research. I was eating 5400 caloris a day , weigh was 183 with no measurable body fat.

A bunch of us trapper/ contractors, commercial fisheman compeated in a tug a war rope pull,.. I was the biggest on our he team , 50lbs lighter than the other teams smallest puller. The biggest scare as a spncered team they had in years. If we had know technique we would have beat the big guys and they knew it.

lefty, unfortunately I sit for a living so I have to watch what I eat and have to exercise in order stay at a decent weight. I am secretly jealous of the guys who get lots of exercise just from work....
