Montana bonus points

I have a couple bonus points accumulated for Montana by applying for limited entry units and failing to draw. If I were to apply for an elk B cow tag, would those same bonus points be used for that drawing? Their website isn't clear as to whether the bonus points for limited entry units are separate from B licenses? Don't think I'll apply for B tag anyway but curious.

I am not 100% sure on this, but, I think the B tag is an extra tag to your original permit (whether drawn or not) and combination license, therefore it would not effect your bonus points. I was looking for that answer as well and haven't found it. IS would probably be the guy to talk to.

The B tag is an extra cow tag for sure. Today in the mail I received the big game regs brochure and an application for B tags. The paper application mentions bonus points right on it and it is an app only for B tags so that's where my question stems from. I may just call the game office in Montana for clarification.

406-444-2950 is the best number to call with license questions. I never bought a B tag so not sure. I got the same stuff in the mail yesterday but tossed the B tag app in the garbage.

Drawing a cow tag (B tag) does not effect your bonus points for bull elk tags. Applications are due June 1. Pay close attention to the regs, I have heard they may make some units to where if you draw a cow tag you can't hunt bulls there. That is how it used to be about 10 years ago.
