day packs?

I'm in the market for a new day pack. I've been using a Cabelas scout pack for the past 5 years and it's starting to give out, it's been a good pack. So what do y'all recommend or what are y'all using. It must have a bladder system light weight and pretty good amount of space is pretty much all I ask for oh and must be comfortable to wear all day.

Nowadays I'm sold on the all in one packs. That said, I really like the badlands super day for just a day pack and you can't beat the warranty although I've never had to try the lifetime guarantee that came with it. They come with a good sized bladder rig also. Very good pocket system and large side pouches.

I use my J107 for everything. I like having one pack.

My pack has to have enough space for everything and a really good system for carrying my heavy wool jacket in gun when I'm not wearing it. It also has to be able to pack a quarter. The other thing that I look for in all my gear is a lifetime warranty.

I've used my Badlands warranty. I beat the living daylights out of a 2200 for about 13 years. Serious full time guiding and overloading it with unboned hind quarters. Abused would be a good word. I sent it back and they said... good job that's what we like to see and handed me a brand new model of the 2200. it is way nicer than the old model. The layout is so freakin nice I can't even tell you. Perfect in every way. More space but a full pound lighter. The meat flap can carry my heavy jacket and is also perfect for packing a bow to pack in camps or when on a horse. Works the same for a gun too. Adequate sized pockets all with easy access and right where you need them. It really is tailor made for elk hunting. Not too bad at $270 either.

I have a badlands superday pack that is really nice. But it weighs in at just under four pounds. Since we backpack in with a big pack and then go to a daypack, it weighs a bit more than I want to carry. So this year I went to Walmart and bought a cheap camo daypack and just gutted it. Cut out the inner walls so its just one compartment, cut straps and anything I didn't need without making it unuseable. It weighs about a pound and a half. I would've never gutted my badlands pack, but didn't feel bad about doing it to a real cheap one. Now I just need to see if it holds up.

i recently just got a badlands 2800 back. i didnt think they could fix it, but they did.

it is an okay pack. in the spirit of not spending any money, i am going to run it again this year.

Not sure what your budget is but take a look at the Stone Glacier packs. Very comfortable and some different configurations for a day pack. Has a very functional load shelf so you can put your meat on between the bag and frame. Really nice system they have with a lot of options.

I have the Stone Glacier approach bag with the meat shelf. I also have some of the other bags as well. The approach with the meat shelf is the perfect day pack. With the KRUX frame you can comfortably carry 100+ pounds. If you decide you want a larger bag there is the solo and it compresses down really tight. There are some other really good packs out there but I run the SG and will say the customer service is second to none.

Thanks guys really good recommendations. I already have a external frame pack but if I can find a pack that's will work like a day pack and still can carry out meat then that's will be even better. So now to just research all of y'alls recommendations

I would also look in to the G2 daypack by Horn Hunter. They are a great little pack 1800 cu/in nice and comfortable, plus it has a cool design where you can attach it to a tree and it acts as a shelf for you gear while you are glassing or waiting for that big bull to come in for a drink.
I also use the Full Curl System when I am feeling like I might get a little crazy and need to haul some weight. It is a great do-all pack. Just depends on what you are looking for.

Well I've narrowed it down to three packs I think!! I know my wife is tired of me watching videos of pack reviews on my phone while she watches her tv shows I don't wanna watch
My biggest thing with packs are they comfortable will they get enough air flow between the pack and my back and is it waterproof or have a rain cover and I can use them as a day pack and carry meat out or gear with it. It don't rain much in NM but when it does it's a down poor! So who has these packs and if you do can you give me your pros and cons
1. Badlands 2200
2. Badlands Clutch
3. Eberlestock m5 team elk

i dont have the 2200..but i have it's old retired uncle..the 2800. very similar packs.

here is what i HATE about my 2800. the water bladder compartment. it is square. my bladders, are rectangles. you do the math...they really wanted me to buy the BL bladder.

air circ on my back..not the greatest. and here is what i really hate. what i have in or on the pack really really affects how the waist belt fits. i fuss with it all the time. too loose, too tight..not enough curvature.

my 2800 has done elk quarters, and it carries my turkey blind all the time. it gets the job done, but i think i could have spent my money wiser. i do know that the 2200 is a much better bag..i'd just try on one..loaded if you can before purchase.

the warranty dept is very generous and friendly. no complaints there at all.

I just got my Badlands 2200 in yesterday and loaded it up with 5 lbs and went on a short 1/4 mile hike and man I love how the weight carries on your hips and not shoulders.

I really like my Eberlestock X2...great pack ...carries everything I need and more and still has the cabability to haul out the firts load of meat upon a kill.

I loved my Superday pack until I bought my Horn Hunter MainBeam XL. The Superday was great for light loads and carrying extra things but in no way would I want to carry any heavy weight in it. The MB XL works great as a day pack and has the ability to carry 60+ pounds with ease. It's got plenty of room for everything you'd need plus extra layers on a day hunt or room to pack for a 3 day hunt. The frame and suspension is the same as the Full Curl and can easily handle the extra items or weight when needed.

I had the Eberle Team Elk pack and sold it because it didn't fit me right and didn't have any functional load lifters. I decided I didn't want to carry a pack that couldn't take care of my gear and a first load out. Plus, I figured the extra weight of the pack wasn't justified for the little return.
