Met a bow today I couldn't pull back.

Mathews MR6. DL was an inch long but that didn't matter. 70lb limbs. I couldn't even pull it into the valley. It felt like an. 80lb

Never met a bow I couldn't get to full draw. Crazy.

Was the bow okay? Or am I just weak. My 70 elite pulls easy. For me.

would it be because of an aggressive cam angle? I really don't know what I am talking about though...

at first I was wondering if you stopped by my house . the elites have a very smooth draw cycle. my son shoots a 60# bow and shot a 70# elite answer with no problems multiple times and wanted me to get 70# limbs for him. I explained to him that the draw on the speed bows stacks up fast and hard. they don't let off until you get over the "hump" and drop into the valley. monsters are the same way. husky390 can attest to this. my bow is 1" to long for him and he had the same issue. he can draw his answer all day long but at 75# he gets stopped right at the hump and has a heck of a time getting it to full draw. its only a 5# difference but the cam design makes all the difference. no dave im not knocking you. this time

I haven't meet anyone who can draw my 80# omen back when its set at 80# and its DL is 30". I shot it 50X tonight and my arms, chest, shoulders are dead. its really not a fun bow to shoot but it blows through anything I release an arrow at. this is the first bow ive shot that hurts my pecks to draw.

My guess is the cam angle and your muscle memory. As Jeremy stated, his bow is fun to shoot, just not fun to draw. I was running into the same problem with a 70# Full Throttle. It has a hump in the back of the cam and I wasn't used to it. As I was getting tired from shooting it, I would get to the point where I'd hit the hump and couldn't get past it. My Elite and some other bows, no problem. But then, it's not as fast as the Full Throttle or the vertical crossbow Jeremy's shooting.

first thing i thought about this morning upon wakening. my shoulder had a tiny tingle..no pain, but it knows something happened.

almost questioned my manliness, or lack of manliness. i dont think i am giving up much in terms of speed..would love to chrono both bows. that bow was insane. with that effort, he better be gaining bigtime FPS.

Just be careful, you can hurt yourself pretty bad by pulling star weight, I did it years ago and never fully recovered.

I would say there is nothing wrong with the bow and it is not your strength. I think you underestimate the effect of that extra inch. Mathews as well as other manufacturers are wanting to advertise their bows as fast. Fast sells. To get speed they have a very abrupt draw cycle. The cam comes to full power right away and hold full power through a long draw cycle, then drops off very abruptly. Carrying your arrow at full power for a longer distance creates more speed. A nasty trait of these speed bows is that you need to hold hard against the wall at full draw, because if you let up, just a little, you will not be able to stop the forward motion of the string.

I could care less about speed. I love smooth comfortable draw. Whatever speed I get is what I get. Not afraid to put the arch back in archery

pointy I guaranty the monster is putting out way more speed than your bow. my sons 60# evo at 29" is shooting 1fps slower than huskys elite answer @70# with the same arrow. but the answer does draw a lot smother than. id say at 60# the evo feels like the 70# answer.

I told my bow dealer that I wanted too order a 80lb bow and he talked me out of it. I bought a 70lb bow and glad I did thats enough for me.

I cant imagine pulling 80#s! I had my old 1994 darton maxed out at 70#s to get every fps I could out of it. that was no fun to shoot and my groups started opening up. my newer bow is a bear attack and I might have it set at 65#s and it is so much faster!

My last few bows are maxed at 60#'s, more than enough. I may eventually turn it down to 55#'s.

Heaviest bow I ever sold was a 90# Martin Onza. Guy wanted to shoot #100 lbs but Martin would only warrantee up to 90. I was able to get about 96 out of it. Pulled it back only once to see if I could.

What model was your old Darton? I still have my Excel I got in the early 90's. Awesome bow in it's day. I keep saying I am going to dust it off and use it for a season. It still has my Fine line sight and TM Hunter rest all ready to go!

I actually had to get rid of a PSE 4x4 thunderbolt when I got back into archery. That bow was so harsh. W the 65% let off it was a shoulder killer. 70lb bow. It was fun when I was younger.

I think it was an excel. i wasn't going to get anything for it and none of my boys are left handed, so i threw it in the garbage.... my newer bear is 100 times the bow that darton was. i was actually going to use it back in 2012 for my first trip in Colorado. but my buddies newer bow made that darton look like a chump. so i maxed it out and it was biotch to shoot and my groups really opened up. and it was still slow... especially with only 65% let off.
