New user. HI!

Postby aroflinger » 03 15, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Hi everyone I'm new on here and hope to learn a lot about elk hunting. My dad said he would take me elk hunting when I graduate. I'm only 13 now but I learn things quickly.

Hello good to have you. Start putting in for those hard zone that need a lot of preferences points. that way your still young when you get drawing. Just my 2 cents.

My preferred points now are just field and target points. Dad won't let me mess with sharp ones yet. But thanks for the pointer. I'll ask him about it this evening.

 That was funny. What he meant aroflingr was points toward drawing elk licenses. You can start collecting points now so that when you graduate you will have a good chance of drawing a good tag in places where you can't just buy them every year.

Here's a question for your dad... try to remember this word for word "Dad, why do I have to wait until I'm more interested in cars and girls before I can go elk hunting?"

Here's my niece. 13 years old at the time.

It's Joe to you man. ;)

Welcome aboard by the way. Glad you found us. Stick around... ask a bunch of questions, and by the time you're going hunting you'll have a pretty good idea of what you're doing.

You can buy bonus points on the internet in Wyoming for $50 between July 1 and September 30. Tell your dad you have the master plan coming together with the help of a few new connections.

Welcome, it is really neat to see a young person with as much interest as you have in our sport. There are some very knowledgeable people here. You have found the right place, don't be afraid to ask questions, it's how we all learn.

I could only wish I started hunting so young. (Dad wasn't a hunter) starting at your age is a huge advantage. You found the right place for info. I've learned a ton from a lot of these guys. Some from other forums before this site existed but sure glad Paul started this forum. Good luck with your elk education

Welcome to the forum. Nothing but great people on here with A LOT of knowledge about elk hunting and among other things. You started looking at the right place and at the right age. My daughter is also 13 and I will be taking her out on her first elk hunt for her 16th birthday. Best of luck in gathering all the right information !!

Welcome to the forum Ivan. I was gone a few days , so I was just a lurker. I was looking forward to welcoming you. Find a good comfortable place around the campfire. Just don't expect me to bring you juice and cookies. You will have to serve yourself. Keep a close eye on RJ as he can be a little shifty. He will move your seat to where you are in the smoke or try some other annoying stunt.

Welcome Ivan! What part of the country do you hail from. Start asking for Elknuts playbooks and videos for Christmas and your birthday. These items will help you a lot.
