i think i got my "western" bow done.

what a PIA!!

cut my bowstring..duh!! finally got the bow back into tune. just in time for turkey. but to make it all that much more challenging..i opted for a new bow sight. i just got my Custom Black Gold Ascent sighted in this weekend. set the third axis and everything!

i now have a ridicolous pin for 100 yards...haha..when i was fresh, i was getting soccer ball sized..maybe basketball sized groups at 80 yards..beyond that was a yard sale. but mathematically, my pin is good at 100 yards..me? not so much.

i seriously doubt i would ever shoot at an animal at 100 yards..but it would be a fun camp bet.

added the bowsight, and a slightly longer and heavier stabilizer..my Elite Energy 35 with it's longer ATA is gosh darn stable...not 100 yard stable, but 80 stable. this is gonna get interesting.

I have a 5 pin spot hog, with the 5th pin set at 80 yards for that just incase moment. ie, last evening of the hunt.... was hitting pie plates 2 years ago after practicing all year. I still have a long way to before that happens again.

hey guys, the there are a few reasons I like to have a long yardage pin. when you start to get dialed in at 90yds in my case, you move up to 50yds and it feels like a 20yrd shot. second say in the off chance you make a bad hit on an elk. a 90yrd shot might present itself and being comfortable with the long shots you have the possible chance of putting a better arrow in the boiler room. just my two cents. but nice setup pointy.

hey pointy, did you check your sight tape to see how accurate it is? I have a friend that can make any tape you need. check it and see if its dead on if not I might be able to help ya out.

jj is that offer good for anybody? your friend making tapes for people, I just got my boss hogg sight and setting my 20,30,40 pins right now. Should know my scale numbers for my tape in a week or two. Just wondering if the tapes can be color coded on the yardages and how far can the yardage go too?

When I get to the range, I'm gonna start w the long shots. Great tip.

I might take you up on the tape offer. I'd like bigger numbers. My eyes are pathetic now.

Thats awesome, do you have any idea how far the tapes can go on yardage and if they can be colored on the even yardage 20,30,40 and so on?

the OEM tapes are pretty basic. i thought about hitting each distance with my crazy collection of highlighters..

but i didnt think about it until i already covered the thing with clear 3M packing tape to add that extra level of weather resistance..having that tape fall off FREAKS me out.

i am gonna paint the needle RED with a paint marker i have.

thought about that too, didn't know if it would fade over time? I know the HHA tapes come color coded but only out too 80yds. my new sight should go out too about 130,140 I'm hoping.

If you get to 120 they have a shoot in Sandpoint Idaho that they stick a life size elephant target at 120 yards with a money dot.

Hit a orange dot on a standing bear at 113yds at the shoot I go too a couple of years ago. Payed out half the pot which at the time was 80 bucks.
