New Mexico Unit 34 & 36 Help/Advice

Postby gigawatts_3 » 03 11, 2014 •  [Post 1]

A buddy and I applied for a NM elk tag for Lincoln National Forest for the 9/13-9/22 season. I'm looking for some advice to collect as much knowledge as possible about the area and how to go about hunting elk in that area. Any info would be appreciated. Anybody hunted in this area before? This will be my 1st elk hunt and my buddies 2nd so any and all advice will be helpful.

This is a great place to learn about elk:) absorb what you can and if you draw I know a little about both units. Incidentally I applied for both:)

I've applied for three years now and just haven't gotten lucky enough to get a tag! Are there really 350 plus bulls in that area?

I've applied for past seven years and have not drawn. 8 years ago drew 36 and we crushed it. If it wasn't my rookie season I might have held out for a bigger bull. My brother too! We got to excited to wait.
