Need help in Montana? Last Week for Licenses

Postby Indian Summer » 03 11, 2014 •  [Post 1]

As many of you know this Saturday is the last day to apply for Montana elk licenses. The draw odds are 100% so the licenses are guaranteed. Although they will sell leftover licenses beginning in late April when the draw results come out you cannot apply for most permits after the 15th.

I have step by step instructions if anyone needs them. They include a link to the Montana FWP application page.

We had another thread where several people were surprised at how many places there are to get guaranteed tags. Obviously the next question for those people is where the heck do I hunt? If anyone serious about hunting Montana this year and is interested in a DIY hunt plan let me know.

I'm going to the post office today to drop several packets with maps and instructions to send off to several excited hunters. I can hardly wait to hear how things went for them later this year. If you are a new hunter or one with a few not so lucky years under your belt and looking to relocate I can help. Whether you want to truck camp or want a pack in experience you can handle I'll set you up with all the details to help speed up your learning curve to finding and killing elk.

For those waiting on New Mexico draws: If you don't draw and would still like to hunt this year I can still help with areas where permits aren't a problem and you can still get licenses.

Best of luck to everyone this year.

For those thinking about using Joe's services, I think you will be very happy with the amount of info that he knows about elk knowledge, and elk habitat. I have not used his services yet, (hopefully in the future!) but he gave me his list of references, and across the board its was nothing but positive responses! This wasn't only a list of people who have be successful, but guys who weren't. The guys that weren't successful couldn't stop saying how much knowledge he and his brother had. They said the reason for not "harvesting" an elk was of no fault of his but their own mess ups! Even the guys that only did drop camps with him and he didn't even personally guide them but pointed them in the right direction to where the elk were. That says something to me. I've spent about 4 hours on the phone with him and he taught me a lot even just over the phone.

Hope some guys can jump at the chance to get a good area to hunt before the 15th! Good Luck!

I'm going to do that Montana hunt at some point. Already have plans for CO this year.
