Backup bow string

I'm going to change out my bow string soon and after visiting my hardcore bow hunting buddy he recommended that I tune out my bow now and save my bow string and cables with silencers, peep and store in a freezer bag. This way if I break a string while off hunting, all I'll need is a press and can be brace in business quickly.

Just wondering if anyone else does this and how many of you bow guys have broken a string in the field. I'm pretty rough on my gear but since the early nineties sieve yet to break a string, but sounds like a sound idea.

Ha, funny you bring this up. Last year we were chasing a bull and he lead us on one those "Lets so if you boys are serious" type elk trails.
When got thru the brush from hell trail. I checked out my bow and found I had snagged the buss cable on something and torn the fibers.Back at camp I had my old set so I pressed and installed the cable and shot the bow and it was perfect.
So it is great to have spares. This year I picked up a backup bow only because I live and hunt in Idaho so I can pack an extra bow .

I have a backup, when I told the tech what I was saving it for he informed me that he gets a lot of archers in that bump the string with the broadhead and hense need a new one fast.

I always have one but have never needed it. I always replace the stock strings on my bow. I shoot them a few hundred times until they have settled and than replace them. Leave everything on the string and put them in my archery box.

I'm not positive I could put my bow back in tune with my travel press.

Always have a spare string with me. It is a super fast swap out (Beautiful thing about trad bows).

I like to have an extra. I'm shooting in my stock strings now and then this summer I'll replace those and keep the stock strings as backup. Never needed it but like having the option. I have tuned bows with a bow master press. It's slow but functional

Willi, I do exactly what you buddy recommends!

The only additions I pack are a pocket press and a Whisker Biscuit along with with, just in a separate bag. It's easy to setup in the backcountry

I have a back up string and cables, but also hunt near where Winner's Choice has their headquarters.

I went ahead and kept the old string, even though the guys at shop said I'd gotten all the good out of the old one, lol. That said they get a few guys in every year that cut them with a broadhead.

I went with another winners choice string but almost didn't as they never responded to my emails about the string swelling under the nock. The guys at shop said they moved recently., but that's really no excuse.
