Evidence of sex

I was reading CO hunting regulations. It seems they changed what evidence of sex is. Last year we were required to have either udder or penis/testicle attached to the carcass the head/horns were not adequate evidence of sex.
This year it says "After harvest, evidence of sex must remain naturally attached to the carcass. You can use either the head or sex organs, but they must be naturally attached to the carcass."
So can we carry the head out on a bull and not worry about the testicle/penis? Does the head have to be attached to rest of the carcass? If so I cant carry that.... Or is just the head sufficient?

Key words there are "attached to carcass". Ie: the antlers are only sufficient if the head is still attached, meaning chances are so are the testicles. The more likely scenario of quartering your elk would void that and you'd still need the testicle(s) attached to a hind quarter.

I have seen proponents of using the gutless method on their elk. I not a surgeon but how would they maintain proof of sex attached if you use that method?

Using the gutless is no different. You just make sure to leave the goodies attached by a piece of hide. It's that simple. With gutless you can leave hide on or take it off, just as regular quartering. Just don't get carried away and cut off the parts that are required to be intact.
